Imperial Khador - That was another situation in which I think Mark did the transition smoothly: everyone could still see the reviews (just on another site) and, more importantly, that was when he opened the more community-oriented CGR site, so he created means to aggregate more fans and form a community, so much that this pub is still the result of it. Also, those youtube videos were completely new videos created to announce the review, instead of being an abruptly cut-down version of it. My point being that Mark certainly isn't wrong in keeping the full videos Patreon exclusive, but I wish he does this in a way that attracts more fans instead of driving people away. I mean, anyone who discovers CGR through this last video certainly won't care for it. But then, the Patreon got two more backers since yesterday, so maybe I'm wrong.

That's actually a pretty good point. I think I'll post about that on the Patreon

That's actually a pretty good point. I think I'll post about that on the Patreon I just saw it, and Mark even responded! I think nothing is set in stone yet, he's still experimenting a lot, so I hope he achieves a good balance between investing on Patreon while also attracting new fans.

Yeah, pretty neat. I'm not sure how effective those videos were back in the day, since I remember a lot of comments on Youtube from people who couldn't even be bothered to go somewhere else to watch them for free, but I'm interested to see what will happen.

Ugh. Don't get me started on that. I couldn't believe how many people said that it was "a pain in the ass to go to another site....unsub." It is a sad state of affairs when people are too lazy to be an armchair social justice warrior.

Yeah, exactly. The more I think about it though, the more I think that those announcement videos might be the way to go. The complainers will always complain, and if anyone wants to check out full reviews for an example of what they're getting...well, Mark has thousands of those videos going back years on Youtube already.

Have you guys watched his recent Magmax review? It was one seriously funny video! Also, I had never heard anything about that game. By the way, his recent output is getting consistently great, amongst the best videos in the channel. I really liked the review for Porky's, and his reading of Destination Earthstar's manual made me laugh till my mouth was hurting!

I had been wanting a Tiger-Heli review for years, the joke about Acclaim and Toaplan on the same game was hilarious.

I played Tiger Heli so much as a kid! I believed that after the game looped once or twice there would be an ending. Cue me reaching the loop again and again. At least I got really good at it.
