Finished up Panzer Paladin on the Switch. This was a fun oldschool platformer. Like many, it draws a bit from Mega Man, but has enough neat stuff going on to make it distinct. You play an android piloting a larger mech, so can exit it to access parts of the level, or even continue on if your mech is incapacitated. The core mechanic has to do with magical melee weapons which slowly degrade, but can each be sacrificed to cast a spell, and weapons are plentiful enough that you don't need to hoard. Only on PC and Switch at the moment, but solid recommendation. This "jumping out of mech" mechanic reminds me of Metal Warriors on the SNES.

I did finish Uncharted 4, it turns out that when I played through all four mainline Uncharted games a while back, I left Uncharted 4 unfinished with only the last two chapters and the epilogue left, so I happened to finally finish those last week, it is a good series overall, and now I'm working on Lost Legacy, which I'm enjoying too.

Finished Persona 5 Strikers.
Of all the Omega-force produced Musou-style spinoffs from others series, P5S feels the least like a musou game. It is essentially a full sequel to Persona 5, with real-time combat instead of turn-based, but it doesn't follow the Musou-style combat arenas. You sneak through dungeons, just as you did in Persona 5, but just the nature of the short combat sequences have changed.
The narrative is top notch as well, and I'd say this feels more like a proper sequel than say...Persona 4 Arena/Ultimax managed.
Well worth it if you enjoyed Persona 5.

Last games I finished were Final Fantasy IX and Gate of Doom. I'm not sure where FFIX will fall in my ranking of FF games, I enjoyed it a lot but not as much as I was expecting. I think I had more fun with FFV earlier in the year, still really good though. Gate of Doom I played co op with my bro and we put in a bunch of credits so it was over in 20 mins, decent action D&D type game but not as good as the official Capcom D&D games. It was fine for $2.50(not to mention it came in a double pack with Wizard Fire it's sequel, haven't played that yet).

FFIX is one of those Final Fantasy titles that I don't think hit at quite the right time for me.
I like it, and I enjoyed it when it came out, but I wasn't as fond of the character designs, story, or world as some of the earlier and later entries. I wonder if it would have hit harder for me if I'd been a few years younger.
But to each their own. I've met folks who love the FFXIII trilogy too

I just finished Uncharted Lost Legacy, it was a lot shorter than I thought, but very fun and cinematic, good platforming, lots of Sonic inspired moments as always, and many Mario ones too. I'm doing Shadow Of The Tomb Raider next.

Finished up the Yuffie DLC for FF7 Remake on the PS5. Was pretty fun! Yuffie's control style stayed interesting throughout, and the story was short, but enjoyable.
Tip for PS+ subscribers. If you had the PS+ PS4 version of FF7 Remake, it has now (as of about a week ago) been authorized for the free PS5 upgrade. This doesn't include the Yuffie DLC, but that is on sale at the moment.

Finished up Persona 5 Royal.
I really enjoyed it, though I'm glad I took a break for a few years after the original. Some nice quality of life improvements, and the extra story content were incorporated well.
I actually ended up getting the Platinum for this one, though the requirements had been scaled back a lot from the original, with a lot of the harder PSN trophies instead being incorporated into the game's internal "Thieves' Den" achievements instead.

Fantastic! I was actually super happy for all the games they gave away on the PS+ last month. Dirt 5 was something I was really looking forward, and so Persona 5 Strikers. Sony really started this year strong with those offerings, and the VR game they gave was something I was looking up as well. I guess they really want to please this time those of us that have a history of supporting different types of releases. I'm looking forward to play those a lot too.

Finished up GRIS. It was short and mournful with some beautifully atmospheric music and visuals. It reminded me a bit of a 2D take one some of the same themes as Journey.

Finished up Ori and the Will of the Wisps on the Switch. It was really run, and felt like a solid improvement on Ori and the Blind Forest in just about every way. Platforming was still really fun, the change to a more melee-oriented style for combat worked, and switching out manual save points for reasonable auto-respawning cut down on the frustration. As with the first game, there were several escape sequences (common for the Metroidvania) genre, and while they could be tense, and require a few restarts, none of them made me stop playing the game for 6 months like the first escape sequence in Ori and the Blind Forest. Visuals and sound were both wonderful and atmospheric, and the story had a nice mix of mournfulness and hope, much like the original. I would solidly recommend. I don't have an Xbox and it won't run on my aging laptop, but the Switch port was still very pretty and I can easily recommend it.

They both called my attention when I saw them. They look fun indeed. Congrats on beating both.

Finished up the Trials of Mana remake for the PS4 (played on PS5).
I'm...kind of ambivalent to this one, after really looking forward to it. I still dig the cartoony designs, and I think they did a great job adapting the large, expressive bosses from the original to the remake. Excellent music of course, and I liked the orchestrated remixes.
But, a lot of the problems I had with the original when I played it on the Mana Collection a few years ago still continue here. A lot of those are direct comparisons to its predecessor, Secret of Mana. Having combat be something that initiates in a limited space when you encounter enemies slows down this kind of action-rpg. Limited items that can be used in combat largely prevented me from bothering with items at all, rather than swapping them in and out. Limited spell selection had much the same effect. Combat was pretty repetitive, etc
Overall, it was all right, but I don't foresee myself ever replaying this one.
