There is no video game counterpart to The Beatles. Metal Gear. Began pretty tame, went balls-out insane and creative and awesome, then had a strange break-up symbolized by an asian element (Yoko/Pachinko). |

Cervantes You just made me remember that I actually have a Link's Awakening DX cartridge sitting at home. It came with the Gameboy I got off of ebay a few years ago, but I didn't think much of it since I wasn't really in the mood for playing Zelda at the time, I should try it out someday. I've also heard good things about the oracle of seasons/ages games but I haven't played those myself either. Play it, I think you won't regret. The Oracle games are really good, I even discussed them in that thread about sequels made by different developers (as they were made by Capcom). Oracle of Ages is the better one of the pair, but they really should be treated as a single game: after you beat one of them, you'll get a password to be used in the other, and this password will open some new things on the second game, including the true final boss. These games also include new villains and places (they're not in Hyrule, as far as I remember), so they feel fresh in comparison to the rest of the series. They're just not as good as Link's Awakening, as far as GB/GBC Zeldas go. stratogustav - I think you're seriously underestimating Zelda sales. Uncharted 4 is a really good seller for its series, with 8.8 million copies, but that's still under the numbers of Ocarina of time (10.96) and just equivalent to Twilight Princess (8.5). And that's as far as Uncharted goes: the next best sold Uncharted game (Uncharted 2) moved 5.5 million copies; there are at least six Zelda games that sold better than that, and Breath of the Wild will certainly be the seventh one. Zelda IS a huge thing in sales. Of course, neither of these games are in the same league as COD or GTA; GTA V alone has already sold more than 70 million copies - but then, you should also consider that COD and GTA are released for every console under the sun and, on places like Steam, they are very constantly in 90% discount sales. I think only Wii Sports has sold over 82 million while being an exclusive. Although most Mario games in the Wii passed the 25, 30 and some even the 40 million mark, but that is very rare. I was saying that I think even Uncharted that doesn't sell that much in comparisong to Diablo III or whatever, sells better than Zelda. But you are absolutely right there is more time for Breath Of The Wild to catch on Uncharted 4. Although the rate per console of Nintendto exclusives is pretty high. I think Breath Of The Wild is at leat at 90% in the Switch. So yeah, Zelda is some sort of Harry Potter, but definitely not a Furious 7. |
