The reason for the end of the podcast is mostly lack of an audience, though - only 30 people were listening to it, so he decided to replace it with a "secret video" each month.
Still a bummer, as I quite liked it.

Balder - I would have supported him anyway, but the podcast was certainly a very good incentive. I hope these new secret videos are worth it - if Mark does something like those videos in which he just watched a silly movie and comented on it (the Flying Guillotine one), that would be just awesome.

I will keep my pledge for another month to see if the secret video is worth it.

I listened to the last podcast today, and I found it incredibly sad to hear that Mark has no contact with any of the Undertow guys. He hasn't even bothered to contact them. It kind of deflates the onscreen magic they had together.

I've always wondered why Undertow never tried Patreon.

It kind of deflates the onscreen magic they had together. I was one of the persons who posted this question, and his answer was heartbreaking - we all know their relations were professional, but it's impossible not to see all those videos of them having fun together and not think that they developed some sort of friendship. I hoped Mark was at least considering inviting them for one of his future projects (like the interviews with Dave for the Best of CGR), but his answer made it clear that, at best, Mark only knows any news from them through Twitter and has no intention of doing a project with their participation.

Derek also mentioned that Mark owns the Undertow name so he couldn't use it.

It definitely broke some of that CGR magic for me. Mark's definitely headed in the wrong direction with his attitude. Maybe it's good the podcast is killed off. All of the interview podcasts have all been about circle jerking his books and hating on social media/YouTube. I get it, he hates YT and Facebook, but when I'm paying for his product I would expect some more positivity instead of beating a dead horse.

One of the things you should keep in mind about the Undertoads is that they all are around 15 years younger than him. Mark has pitched his legacy on Youtube several times: "I come from the Atari era..." (that's poorly paraphrased), thus, he has a certain appreciation of things new and old with a retro visor (sometimes even through an R-Zone).
If you look at the people he features on podcasts (just from the ones I've seen advertised), it's all people who are close to his age bracket (Pat Contri, MJR, Game Sack, Happy Console Gamer, Dave). I think it might even have been a pipe dream of his to work with people on Youtube who are closer to his own age and style which as a teacher, I can actually sympathize with.
I don't know if you all know this either but Brandon went on to do legitimate independent film work. Derek seems like he's still struggling at finding his calling.
