I can't wait for this game. I love Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts

I don't mind this. As much as I love turn based combat, it's usually garbage when used in a JRPG because there's usually no depth or thought involved.

It's cool that some stores are letting you get the copy earlier. My brother got his Deluxe Edition yesterday and he is playing it as we speak. The trophies pop up but for some reason the PSN does not let him post shares. It is still cool that he can play it pretty much a week before release. That's the beauty of physical copies. Good news, he is one of those that actually finished The Witcher 3 and he says this one is at least 5 times superior than that game, and he is one of those that actually liked The Witcher 3 which was a much simpler game. It comes with images of both, the Western, and Eastern release covers. The in-game combat style is pretty badass. You can still share images by taking pictures with your phone. He is already at 21%. It's strange to see some trophies are still at 0.0%. Of course the plat, is still one of those:

About a year+2 months later and looks like this is one of the most 100%-ed FFs ever. Currently the platinum achievement rate stands at about a full 7% - not even in the ultra rare tier anymore. Having gotten it myself in about 3 weeks since starting the game with just about 60 hours recorded game time, I have to say it feels like the standards for acquiring plats have become quite lax compared to the PS3 days...

My brother end up getting the plat for it in the first weeks as well. In his defence he also got the plats for Dark Souls II Scholar Of The First Sin, and Dark Souls III, including all the DLCs.

Dark Souls... pssh... Amateurs... I only respect the Mass Effect people. They are the true men. Truthfully though, while platting the FFXV base game itself is easy, 100%-ing all the DLCs is hard-as. Show me a screenshot of a 100% of the Episode Ignis & Prompto DLCs and I'll tip my hats off to that player's username.

Just getting to their end credits is simple enough, but each of those episodes has one particularly difficult trophy to earn beyond their story progression achievements. I will respect anyone who manages achieving them, as it demonstrates perseverence and determination in their personal character.
I won't judge anyone for moving on after just completing the base game, but those who enjoyed it enough to plat it owe it to themselves to at least complete the story portion of Episode Ignis as well. It really complements the main story to an appreciably greater sense of satisfaction & completion - it's that good. If they go for just one DLC, they should make it this one.

From what I heard the game is still in the making. Meaning, it is not done yet. There is no definitive edition in the foreseen future because more content is still in development for it. Probably making the Square Enix game that have been in development the longest since 2006.
At least it wasn't published by EA Sports like Final Fantasy VIII.

Thats a pretty good standard then. I had so much fun with XV last year (wow it really has been a year) that i want to play it again now. The game is rough around the edges, a sequel will definitely improve. I honestly cannot play turn based, atb who-knows-what rpg again. Most of them are mechanically obsolete, like FF8(sorry leaon). But then we have strange yet good games like Resonance of Fate.

I feel a little hypocritical because I said I was going to try it and so many stuff came out that even till this moment I still haven't done it.
After all, Square Enix said they were making the new system for people like me that wasn't attracted to turn based combat.
My brother said he loved it, he said he even liked it more than The Witcher 3 and he also finsihed and liked that one. I believe him, so I know it has to be good.
At the same time I do want to try the classics too. Somehow I end up knowing so much about classic RPGs by listening to you guys that I want to have some of those iconic experiences too, like Chrono Trigger, Secret Of Mana, Robotrek, Soul Blazer, and Illusion Of Gaia.
I heard that Final Fantasy VIII and IX were even better than VII, and that VI remains the best of them all. The passion with wich I hear people talk about these things is contagious.
So I'm thinking after I finished the MGS saga maybe I should also do the entire Final Fantasy saga with its spinoffs, just to be ready for VII Remake.

No apologies necessary - although I identify somewhat with the character, I have never really favored VIII itself as being among the better FFs either. (besides I'm more the Kingdom Hearts Leon than the original Squall )My 'favorite' one has shifted over the years from X, to XIII-2, and now to XV. Yep, XV is my current favorite... Mainly because I like action games more than turn based nonsense too I suppose... The new Royal Edition makes some solid improvements from what I hear, most notably the expansion of Insomnia city for the endgame. But already having gotten the plat, I don't really have much compulsion to replay the whole thing again just to see all the new additions. Maybe I'll just run through the endgame once more just for the new Insomnia now that I think about it. I'm also still waiting on the Resonance of Fate sequel.

Probably making the Square Enix game that have been in development the longest since 2006. The definitive complete edition will likely be out in 2020, sometime after last of the upcoming 4 announced season 2 DLC episodes . (Spoilerific - Watch at your own risk) So I'm thinking after I finished the MGS saga maybe I should also do the entire Final Fantasy saga with its spinoffs, just to be ready for VII Remake. That'll be the day...

I wish I could get into Final Fantasy, but it's just too many, too long games. I should at least get the DS games (3,4) and finally beat 7 sometime - I only played seven until near the end of the first disc. Twice. Don't know why I can't get myself to finish it.
Also 6. I've tried playing it twice, it's a great game, but something always comes up in the mean time amd I can't play it for some weeks, then when I get back to it, I don't have the will to continue from where I stopped.
Now that I think about it, the only FF game I've ever finished was 1. I also started 2 and 8, never finished them either. Huh. Maybe I should just admit the series isn't for me.

On the bright side stratogustav, the longer you wait, the more likely FFXV will actually be finished. I played it more than a year after release, and a friend had commented that it was much different, ranging from little quality of life improvements (10 hunts at a time instead of 1) to major cut scenes. Even since I've finished, the final chapter has been substantially re-done (as part of the base game), the "Royal Edition" has been released with boat content, and the second season of DLC chapters is coming, as leaon79s mentioned. It is nice to see more, but I don't think I'd pick it up again until they announce they are 100% finished with additional content, and the same might be said for future Square Enix RPGs. If the FFVII remake ever comes out, I'm strongly considering the same policy (ie. wait until all episodes are released, no mater how long that takes). For FFXV, I kind of hope they manage to add back a lot of what was apparently planned content, if they're willing to rewrite chapters of the game. Might be nice to travel around that second continent outside of the empty glitch-space in which it exists now
