VR is just going up. People just can't quite afford it yet. Do you really think so? I don't mean to be down on it, but I don't hear anyone really talking about it. All the teenagers talk about is Fortnite this and Fortnite that. A few years ago 3D TVs were all the rage among the teenage hype train, but that died a slower death than VR. Don't get me wrong; I want it to succeed. I used to pay $10 for 10 minutes of VR time at Chicago's Navy Pier in the 90s. That was awesome back then! I think Cervantes is on to something, unfortunately.

AND VALKYRIA CHRONICLES 4??? EDIT: They are already listed on Steam! I've already put all of them on my wishlist, which is huge right now. I swear I posted about it before. Already pre-ordered it myself, but they are doing the damn crap with locking away extra content in a special edition with other crap I don't need/want...

By the way, the brain cells from 1993 became quite giddy when I watched this.

That was great stuff, they got rid of The Last Of Us early on and then this shit blown.
Resident Evil 2 Remake, Nioh 2, a brand new PSVR game from Japan Studio and FromSoftware.
Sony. Respect.

dschult3 and stratogustav - Unfortunately, I also don't see VR going up in its current state - if anything, I've been reading lately about abandoned projects, games being reworked to be played VRless and developers giving up on developing for VR, like the Eve Valkyrie developers. What I think is that it will remain a niche thing for a few years, then, if the technology evolves enough, there will be another market push down the line. But, right now, it's clear most developers are taking it just as a side thing (a bonus feature in a few games) or abandoning it completely. So, more or less like 3D screens: every few years, we see them coming back in an updated form (the last one were 3d tvs and the 3DS), then it goes away for a time, then it comes back again. It has been like this since the 1950s, and it never fully catches on.

Yeah VR is already mainstream but highly unaccessible as it is right now.
VR is definitely on the rise. I would say every home in U.S. will have a proper VR headset in 2029.
So there is a long way to go from here.

scipioafricanus - We've discussed Valkyria 4 before, but, until now, it was not confirmed on PC, that's my surprise. I'm really glad for that, as not releasing it on PC after the huge success of the first game's port was just stupid. So, Death Stranding. Any thoughts? If those walking/hiking scenes are indicative of anything, I'm getting some ICO/Shadow of the Colossus gameplay memories from it. I'm ok with that. Also, there definitely is stealth in it.

I was skeptical of VR back in 2014 but now I'm sure it'll be more than just a fad. It's both an exciting and worrying prospect for me, since I think it's interesting and I'd like to see it get it's own market, but I don't want it to shake up the industry to the point where everything revolves around VR. If those walking/hiking scenes are indicative of anything, I'm getting some ICO/Shadow of the Colossus gameplay memories from it. You know I was actually getting a similar feeling. To me it's surefire sign that it's someone's vanity project as opposed to being a good game.

It's both an exciting and worrying prospect for me, since I think it's interesting and I'd like to see it get it's own market, but I don't want it to shake up the industry to the point where everything revolves around VR. No worries there, VR will grow a lot, but the industry won't revolve around it. More games will come with VR modes in the future and some will be exclusive for VR, but the industry will continue as it is right now, a little similar to the difference between handhelds and consoles. In fact, if anything, VR will have much more things going on outside of gaming. What will take over eventually is augmented reality, but even that you won't feel it because that would basically substitute your TV, and for that to happen is even way more down the line, probably in a couple decades. By the way, it is weird to me, it is kind of Deja Vu, but does anyone remember when Capcom and Konami were the biggest gaming powerhouses on the planet? Well, isn't it weird that the most exciting and best looking gameplay on the Xbox presentation was Devil May Cry 5? And isn't weird too that the most exciting game on the PlayStation conference was the remake of RE2? Then there is Death Stranding which is the equivalent to the Konami game, and also things like Sekiro from FromSoftware and Nioh 2 from Tecmo that are also a lot of hype. Just like last year when all those great games were coming out, it feels like we are back in the day again. I'm very surprised, I wasn't expecting this kind of renaissance from this gen. A sequel to Kingdom Hearts from Square Enix? Tomb Raider finishing a trilogy? Ace Combat is coming out, we are getting a licensed Spider-Man game, Dead Or Alive has a new entry, and Soul Calibur too. Not to mention how Nintendo is strong again with a new Smash game coming. This is definitely Deja Vu.

So Sony belly flopped I heard. Was there nothing of interest shown or what?

So Sony belly flopped I heard. Was there nothing of interest shown or what? Well, it had better exclusives than Xbox, but the presentation was done much more professionally by Xbox in my opinion. In terms of third party games, they both showed great stuff as we mentioned before.

So Sony belly flopped I heard. Was there nothing of interest shown or what? To be fair, a lot of the interesting games shown by Microsoft are multiplatform titles that will show up both on PC and PS4 too: From Software's Sekiro, Capcom's Devil May Cry 5 and Eidos/CD Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It's just that Sony chose to not show those games again, instead focusing on games that will be only on PS4 and, at best, PC: Death Stranding, Ghosts of Tsushima, Nioh 2, The Last of Us 2, Control and Spider-Man. Resident Evil 2 is one of the few games that will be on the X1. EDIT: It seems Control is also on X1. So, while Sony's conference looked much worse by comparison (shorter and with fewer games), I think the PS4 actually had more big announcements than the X1. Not that I care since I'm on PC anyways! Luckily, the ones I'm interested in are either confirmed on PC (Sekiro, Nioh 2, Tomb Raider, RE2, maybe DMC5) or have been said that they will get a pc port (Death Stranding - I hope they didn't changed their minds about the pc version).

According to the E3 subreddit, Sony was pretty bad.

According to the E3 subreddit, Sony was pretty bad. Didn't we say this? Not only the presentation was bad in comparison to other years, even Xbox with worse exclusives had a much better presentation than PlayStation this time around. That said, they definitely brought the goods. I was surprised as I was not expecting anything from them after seeing all the other good stuff from other presentations.
