"CGR Mark IV & More
And you thought I was being lazy on vacation (I was). Ha! I swirl my gin and tonic in your general direction.
Thank you to everyone who answered my poll and questions earlier. It's most efficient to respond in bulk and just say thanks Happy to hear most of us enjoy the attitude of the show, but styles have changed. Creating content for YouTube is very different than creating a CGR Feature Review, and that's been made really clear lately.
Part of me likes to be more technical and serious and obsess over the filmmaking process. The other part is like "Fuck it, let's drink beer and talk about Atari while wearing a captain's hat".
July brings CGR Mark IV. WTF is Mark IV?
It is like being inside joy.
Just kidding, that was a shitty quote from Star Trek Generations.
I'm re-configuring the arcade room, bringing back the bar and planning more competitive reviews, "how-to old school" videos, game room tours and the return of the CGR Lap of Awesome. Shorter, more impact, more personality.
There's a b-studio being built around the bar seen in the old reviews. It'll be kept under wraps until the launch, which will be celebrated on Patreon in July. Expect copious amounts of beer and wood grain and Atari. I may be on a health kick, but recording should be fun. Nobody gives a shit about the old games if the video isn't fun.
Edit-Station 1 may take over from time to time when Producer Mark needs to cut the carbs.
Chill a six pack in the fridge, you'll need it. Will the arcade games return?
More stuff to look forward to later this year.
11x17 Console Prints: In July/August I will be launching a Kickstarter for a series of limited edition, 11x17" signed and numbered console review prints (depicted in the graphic above) of a few select photos from my recent shoots. Follow me on Kickstarter so you don't miss out if you want them.
Video Game Coloring Book: Yes, exactly what it sounds like. Something I'm looking into. Color your favorite game systems while learning about them and why they are rad.
Ultra Massive Series: Too much to mention here, it's on the way starting in late July. Looks to be amazing and unique. Followed by the Ultra Massive Spaceship Shooter Guide.
CGR Feature Reviews 2 & 3, on Kickstarter now. Doing well, and yes I'm planning 4 & 5 next.
I will be speaking & signing at Replay FX in Pittsburgh at 4pm on Saturday, July 29. See you there. I'll be talking about the unexpected success of the CGR Feature Review series, the filmmaking process, self publishing, the new books, the history of the show and more.
