Can you give me an example? The Fire Emblem fanbase. Why is it trash? For starters, a portion of the FE fanbase has a tendency to try to dislike new games in the series as soon as they come out, and they only grow to like them if they find an excuse to do so; this has always been a thing since the first Fire Emblem game was localized for the West. Now, two of the latest entries in the series for the Nintendo 3DS pretty much saved the series from being put away in the fridge, but because they try to catter to a slightly different group of people, those games are regarded as complete garbage! They even go as far as not caring at all that Fates (2nd 3DS game) fixes one of the biggest issue in the series. Does that mean much? Not really if it just stayed like that. This portion of the fanbase is now responsible for spreading negativity over the soon to be released Fire Emblem Warriors, a crossover fanservice kind of game, and because of their vocal power there is a realistic chance that sales will be affected. So, this is an example of a fanbase that's so bad that they may rob sales of a product that was created for them. |

Literally every title after Radiant Dawn messed up the series' signature quality anime look. Now it looks like generic otaku crap that any half-decent artist could do. Anyway, my choice for the worst fandom is definitely, without question, the Paper Mario fandom. They do nothing but praise TTYD and Super and neglect the brilliant first game on N64. It's frustrating as an artist to have these average gamers talking down to me like I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to the art direction of these games. Excuse me, but WHO is the artist again? Oh yeah, me. Buzz off already, damn nippers. And take an art course while you're at it! |

Sonic is the king of terrible fanbases and I dare any of you to prove me wrong. How so? A huge part of it is made of people with, let's just say, peculiar sexual interests. Their fan art will scare you for life. Another huge part will strongly hate everything. I've seen people hating both the announcements of Sonic Mania AND Sonic Forces, even though the decision to make them both was supposed to please both the 2d and 3d players. Sega has some guilt in this, as they did so many changes to Sonic's gameplay style over the years that the fanbase is all over the place by now: people will scream that they prefer Mega Drive era Sonic, or that they want a new Sonic Adventure, or a new Colors/Generations, or a new Lost World, or something like Sonic Rush etc. Part of the fanbase love all the characters and want Sega to make new ones, other part hates all of them except for Sonic, Eggman, Tails and Knuckles... I think there's nothing in Sonic that is NOT a point of contention among its fanbase. And it's not because Sonic is a famous series: I don't see that much hate in Mario or Zelda, Sonic is far ahead in that regard. |

As a pretty equal Nintendo and Sega fanboy (is that allowed?), I'd say both groups can be bad when in a herd, but the Nintendo fans are generally more ignorant (of things non-Nintendo) and the Sega fans are generally more bitter (about everything). |

I'd say the gta 5 fanbase is pretty bad. Also the gta online fan base is bad and the community for it is toxic as fuck. These are all people who have never played San Andreas multiplayer before and think gta online is the best thing since sliced bread.
The Naruto fanbase is bad as well but I don't watch Naruto or follow it. I've just heard it's bad.

Dan E. Kool I think you hit the nail on the head. I guess my beef with the Nintendo fanbase is that I've noticed a good chunk of these Youtube reviewers/"game analysts", and even gaming journalists, are ignorant Nintendo fanboys. Due to their position, they end up creating more like-minded Nintendo fanboys.
