Rockstar is remastering one of my favorite games they ever made, and it's coming to the Nintendo Switch. Oh, and the PS4, Xbone, and HTC Vive. I've already played the PS3 version many times, but I'm looking to get a Switch later this year and would definitely pick this up. Read the announcement here: LINK

Rockstar was always hesitant to sell their games through Nintendo consoles because they knew it was not their audience, however when it comes to Nintendo handhelds Rockstar always knew that is a whole different monster and they had been there all the time. Considering The Switch is a home console as well, this is actually a first, at least from what I remember.
I had been loving a lot of Australian games lately like Gems Of War and Chaos Code which even looks all Japanese, L.A. Noire is one of those on my to do list, I have the PS3 version, but I have not touched it yet. It is on my to do list for sure. I think that studio closed though, so I doubt we will see a sequel any time soon or maybe, you never know.

But Chaos Code isn't australian.
So, I have just watched a full LP of LA Noire from the Super Best Friends, and I don't really see the gameplay in it warranting it a purchase... Maybe because Rockstar is famous people may buy it, but to me this is a weird one for them to consider.

It's weird seeing a Rockstar game on a Nintendo home console after so long. The VR version sounds like it could be really interesting too.

I loved the game, but I like old 1940s Hollywood anyway, so that's probably why. If you're not a fan of those movies, this game isn't going to be for you, that's a given. They don't follow the formula exactly, there's no way the cops would be crooked in the old movies - and they definitely wouldn't survive but they recreated the atmosphere of old Los Angeles beautifully. I always played in black and white for the full effect. Crime solving was a lot of fun and the face animations made interrogating people a blast, too. In that way, it's fun to play with others as well, trying to guess together if the suspect is a liar or a truther. It'll be cool to play this one on the road.

You dislike Super Best Friends, so you don't get how fun it is to watch them play games, specially the ones you don't enjoy. Ride to Hell: Retribution was definitely one of my favorite playthroughs from them. My problem with LA Noire is that I rarely buy games that don't see myself playing more than once, and the thing that generally makes me do that is gameplay.

Completely agree with my Brother from Another Mother. I love 30's and 40's movies. This fits perfectly with it. The city is fun to drive around in too, since it is like a window into 1940's LA/America. I devoured every bit of it and all the DLC. No regrets, and I want to go through it again, someday. If it has that much of an improvement, this might be the right purchase as long as all the DLC is on one disc.

But Chaos Code isn't australian. I was just as surprised. That game looks full Japanese and it is even distributed by Arc System Works themselves, the art is Japanese and the in game voices are Japanese, it is easy to think the game is Japanese. It fooled me too. It is a very good game though.

Dan E. Kool, did you ever get the Switch copy of this game? The price is going down, so I might just pick it up.

It is worth it if you want something different and adult. Mario games are pretty adult. All those game theories on YouTube are pretty legit, people use to talk about all those things way before they came up on YouTube. I remember how we would have discussions with friends about how Super Mario Land 2 was the last game of the series, how Yoshi's Island was a prequel, and how Mario end ups with Daisy after ditching Princess Toadstool. Plus we all know that every time Bowser kidnaps Peach he does whatever he wants with her, just like Lord Jabu-Jabu did with Princess Leia in Return Of The Jedi. What happens is that Nintendo likes to mask it, but because Mario is Italian, it is very easy for us to forget that the Japanese lore of the creators is definitely present in all those games.

Since I already have L.A.NOIRE for the PS3, I've been waiting for the price to drop... But checking Amazon right now tells me that the time has come. Good looking out!

LA Noire has dropped already quite a few times but you also need an SD card to be able to play it and I haven't bought an SD card for my Switch. Still have space right now and haven't decided if I want to go 64 or 128GB. Waiting to see how many third party games have big mandatory installs like this one, or are half digital only(like Bayonetta 1-2 which is 2nd party even).

I matched up the requirements from the overpriced official Nintendo Switch edition and purchased this 128GB Samsung for ~$30 with Amazon Prime.
