This is a huge comic book spanning 200 pages with compact pages with comic strips. It contains a brand new story that has all of Mark's comic characters. It's very good, but you kind of have to know the source material of these characters to get them (so I wouldn't recommend this before you have read his previous comics).
It also contains comic books he made before CGR which is:
Disco 8-Track #0 and Wind Squid #0: These were stretch goals from the Lord Karnage kickstarter and it was also sold digitally on Amazon. It's great to see them in printed form. They're good, but not great. They try to set up the CGR universe with some backstory, but even Mark himself has stated that they are slightly out of canon.
Captain Kolledge: A drunken superhero who saves college from political correctness. This humor is different and exaggerated from what Mark's humor is now. But this is Mark from college. Great attention to detail on these strips, but it's a little too extreme with its humor for my taste. Captain Kolledge 2 on the other hand is great, but it's short. This reminds me very much of what CGR comics is all about today.
Mass Media: Mark hates this comic himself it seems, or he doesn't like it at least. It's very simplistic, both in story and in details. This doesn't feel like CGR comics at all, and it reminds me very much of what you would find in a news paper (which it was designed for). I find it humorous at times, and it's good.
Bolfar Hero of the 9th Moon: This isn't very long, and from what I read I didn't get a good feel for what kind of guy Bolfar is. However, the crossover between this and Captain Kolledge is great.
Also there was a last comic which was only 3 pages or so that was incomplete. It had a futuristic war theme and the attention to detail and shadows was incredible. I wish he'd make more of this sometime, but I know he won't since it's not in the CGR universe and the amount of work would be too much.
Overall I think this is perhaps the best CGR comic book yet aside from Lord Karnage. And I'm looking forward to the next volume. However, if one would like to read this one they should have at least read Lord Karnage 1.5 and Ethel 1.
