So the other day I stumbled upon a news article on MSN.com about the recent discovery of the highly cancerous substance in coffee known as acrylamide. Here is an article on the subject: www.aol.com/article/news/2018/01/25/california-may-soon-declare-coffee-a-cancer-risk/23343475/I then did a google search on the substance in question (acrylamide) and read that it is found in many other food products that have been fried or baked as well, including potato chips! I was horrified when I read this, because kettle cooked potato chips are my snack of choice. So in addition to warning you guys about this, I also wanted to ask: should I be worried?? Do you guys think I (or someone) could develop cancer from eating foods that contain acrylamide?

Don't worry, mate. You know, just the act of waLking under the sun is already cancer risk. You have to take into factor the amount of that substance that you are taking in, your general health and your predispositions, like family history. There are a lot of factors.
Otherwise, everyone in Brazil would be dying of cancer very early, since it's common to start drinking coffee every morning when you're a small child (coffee is a beverage as common and seen as harmless as orange juice or whatever). And yet, there's no cancer epidemy caused by coffee over here, so you shouldn't worry.
You just shouldn't take you medical advice from news, they water down research and always present it in a sensationalist way - so, if a recent academic article finds that a certain substance may be linked to a particular type of cancer in certain rare conditions, you can be sure that journalists will present that as "YOU'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!"

It's good that you're very optimistic about this. This sort of stuff really tends to worry me a lot. My dad died of lung cancer over a year ago due to high radon levels in our basement, and he never smoked a single cigarette in his life. Every day I feel as though I'm going to die as early as my 30s due to some sort of cancer that I can't afford to treat or something like that. It gets me down.

I made a post on longevity not long ago. If you follow those guidelines your chances of living longer get exponentially higher.
We are always at risk of stuff, but worrying is a waste of time and extremely unhealthy. If your mind is negative your body will follow because worrying too much can cause cancer as well.

I would worry too if radon was filling my basement. People react differently to all sorts of stuff. People can suck cigarettes down their entire lives while people get cancer from breathing second hand smoke. I’m not sure eating chips is going to guarantee cancer, but as food become less natural and more a combination of synthetic and unnatural materials and space age polymers, the risk of caner probably gets higher. Just do like uncle Cobretti does. Eat tree bark exclusively.

I think people just... don't. If you go anywhere near an elementary school, you'll be instantly deaf by all the screaming. Apparently, most people still haven't found the obvious correlation between giving their 6-year old kids coffee for breakfast and these same kids turning into berserk demons a few minutes later.

Spirit Bomb Do yourself a favour. Turn off the TV and get off the internet for a while. News media thrives on negativity and it will wear you down. Cervantes

You know that days when I write a lot of posts around here and they're full of typos and edits? It's not booze, just lots and lots of coffee.

Found this video the other day. This man living in Iran is 80 years old and hasn't taken a bath in roughly 60 years. He lives in a hole he dug in the ground, drinks from a rusty oil can and smokes donkey kernels. If a man this squalid can live to the age of 80, then it really makes you wonder how much one's environment actually plays a role in developing cancer. I mean, I live in a first world country, and my dad died 2 years ago at the age of 58 because of lung cancer. My grandmother's friend had a sister who died at the age of 51 due to cancer. Does it really just boil down to genetics? Makes me wonder.

What ms this guy’s deal. Hell, I can’t go a day without a shower.
