I have the game on Wii VC and thought it was fun but definitely not worth the price for an SNES cart. I thought about getting the PS4 version but never got around to doing that and hear it's coming on Switch so might get it on that for the co-op. Hope it also gets a physical release on Switch but expecting digital only.

I suggested this one with stratogustav in mind, since I know he has a huge digital collection and this game is available on the Wii Virtual Console as well as having a pretty awesome looking sequel on the PS4. If anyone has the sequel, let me know how it is. Judging by the trailer on YouTube, it looks great. I just played through this game about a week ago on the SNES and it's a lot of fun. The gameplay is arcade-style and it puts up a decent challenge. Wild Guns plays a lot like Nam-1975 on the Neo Geo, with the player running back and forth across the foreground and aiming at enemies in the background as they pop up. When shooting, you control the aiming reticle, but when you stop shooting you control your character. Add to that some evasive rolls, power-ups, and a double jump and that's all there is to it. Being a late release on the SNES, the graphics look fantastic with large, colorful sprites and some cool effects like heat haze that ripples the screen. The game is a western as you'd guess, but it's got a kind of steam punk vibe, with machine guns and robots. It's definitely unique. The soundtrack is fun, too. Wild Guns isn't a game you'll beat the first time, though it does give you infinite continues. I don't consider it beaten if it isn't done on one credit, though, and that took me about a week of playing it almost every night to complete. Just like a beat-em-up, it's more fun when played co-op, but that does make the game much easier. Overall I think it'd make a nice addition to stratogustav's collection! 😉

Awesome suggestion. I always had been meaning to get it both ways, on the Virtual Console and on the PS4. I did not know it was coming for the Switch, if it does I hope it comes physical. I would love to have it on cartridge for the Switch. I would love the original SNES cartridge as well, but I heard it is too expensive to get it. It is definitely a game I would had love to see it coming for the SNES Classic, with the pixel perfect treatment. I honestly think it was suggested for it, but because of the PS4 release they decided not to include it. It is one of the best games on the SNES and for my likings I consider it essential. In the Nelson Mandela young death dimension this game was likely published by Konami. Natsume did a great job with this. Dan E. Kool I would definitely get it. Thanks for reminding me.

I'm very surprised with how late of an entry into a console this game is.

I'm very surprised with how late of an entry into a console this game is. 1994 is not late. There were games getting released even for the NES in that year. The PS1 was out in 1995 but the SNES was still super strong with Killer Instinct, Yoshi's Island, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Even in 1996 the SNES was still strong with the release of Donkey Kong Country 3 and Kirby Super Star, all while Super Mario 64 was already out.

Widescreen/HD, 4 player co-op(so also two new characters), and I believe more difficulty options and a new level or two.

It's really not that late of an entry: in 1994, the NES was still getting good releases like Startropics 2 (Mega Man 6 was also just released in 93), so it's not surprising that the SNES had a strong support by then - its last release was only in 1998 (Frogger). As for Wild Guns itself, it is a fun game in a genre that is more rare than it should be - besides Sin & Punishment and its sequel, I don't even know any 3d games in this style; for 2d, there's Cabal and Nam-1975, as mentioned by Dan E. Kool, and maybe a few others. Is the new release a remake or a sequel? I got the impression it was mostly an enhanced port/remake with a few extras (widescreen and new characters), but I'm not sure.

Here's our answer, Cervantes 😉 I just watched the trailer and saw the new levels and characters and kinda assumed. How is the gameplay? Still the same or does it use the analog sticks? I can't imagine playing it with anything other than the D-pad...

Wild Guns looks really cool! I'm waiting for the sequel to be released on Switch.
