I mostly picked this game because of the upcoming Switch release, which is being developed by Camelot again. My fingers are crossed that the new one has the same story-mode RPG style elements to it that I loved from the GBC version. The N64 transfer-pak feature is basically built into the Switch already, so I think this could be a real spiritual successor to the original. Do me a favor and add this to the official list at your convenience, Balder.

Camelot has developed some great games (the Golden Sun series is also theirs), Sega definitely should've treated it better - as I understand, one of the reasons it ditched Sega was because of troubles surrounding how Shining Force 3 was published.

I liked Mario Tennis enough to give it a 4. I haven't played it for over a decade, but I remember enjoying it as a rental (never owned it). And it was the game that introduced Waluigi.

I never got too into Mario Tennis but did find it to be a fun pick and up play game that I'd play for 30 mins here and there. I've always wanted to try the RPG-like one on GBC but never got around to it.

I like the games. They are pretty fun. I prefer Virtua Tennis any day though. Usually Sega is much better at sports games than Nintendo is.

I'll come back to this thread after I get the new "Aces" game and let you all know if it lives up to the fun I had with Camelot's earlier Mario Tennis games. I don't know how much of the original team is still at that studio, but I guess the people there still feel something for the series to be picking it up again after almost 20 years. I hope it turns out great!

As a game fan and tennis player and former coach, this is one of my favorite games of all time, this is an easy 5 for me. The only tennis game ever that I think is better is Topspin on the original XBox.
