I tried it. It was like a different thing, but in hindsight it is not what I was looking for in a game.
I don't think these games are necessarily bad, I can see how people can become fans of these type of games.
This one just needs a lot more polish, and definitely more gameplay depth, to make it worthwhile.
There are excellent games in this genre like Until Dawn, and Detroit, but with the advantage of having bigger budgets, and resources.
Life Is Strange likely didn't have all that, so it was considered a success considering what they offered, and what they had to work with.

If there's one time I value art style and visuals in a videogame, it's in a point&click. This game's lack of either put me off from ever trying it. I'll even put up with the visuals in some Telltale games, but this game looks and sounds repulsive. It could have a good story or characters for all I know, but I never get the urge to play it.

I played this when I was 15 years old, so I didn't really know all about that tumblr shit, so I pretty much loved it. Loved the art style, the consept and especially the music. When you're 15, you don't really notice all the weird and shitty stuff, so I pretty much loved it right away. I do still like it, but now I see the weird stuff as well. The graphics are pretty dated and the writing is pretty awfull. But since this was one of my favorites, I still like it.

Never played it. Probably won't at this point, I only get the urge to play a movie game every now and then.

Armored Core Raven - Good god, I had a presentiment that this game was shit, but if it's anything like that review shows, it's basically a bunch of 50 year old guys trying to pass themselves as teenagers. Wowsers, it's literally some dank shit! Hella awesomesauce! Amazeballs! More random word compounds!

The genre is not easy to pull off. Telltale went bankrupt already, and they had the entire gaming press backing them up.
The gaming audience is still strongly masculine, and many of these stories are not that appealing in that sense.
We just want to punch people, maybe cut them with a sword, blow shit up, specially in space, and drive fast, that's it, maybe kick a ball once in a while.
So if we are going to fantasize about stories, a hentai monster kidnapping a blonde princess while you go high on mushrooms trying to rescure her is more than enough of a plotline.
How about giving us another Virtua Cop or Time Crisis so we can unload bullets on bad guys? That would be so much more attractive.
