This game just came out last week, but it's free to play. I know the pub probably isn't too fond of this sort of game, but this is really the apex (best) of the battle royale style of games. It's super polished, everything it does, it does better than any other competitor out there. It isn't groundbreaking, but it's one of the most refreshing games to come out in a long time for me at least. It just works. I'll come back to comment some more on it once I've got some time.

I would totally start loving battle royale games on foot if they had Pierce Brosnan skins, but so far no one has done it, no Fornite, no PUBG, no Black Ops, or the upcoming Firestorm from EA. Balder you should like this game considering you like Titanfall, and this one is suppose to belong in the same Universe. I haven't seen any playable mechs, so I still don't know how it is related. At least you can use those zip lines to get really high on the ground. I'm really surprised there is no hate considering it is a battle royale from EA that probably has a tone of loopboxes, and microtransactions. This was the total opposite case of Command & Conquer Rivals that came from the same people, and the opposite as well of Diablo Immortal from Blizzard. Also free to play, but hated before they were even out.

I don't get this genre - but then, online shooters in general are just not my thing, and Battle Royale things seem to be even worse on account of being slower (too much time to get to your oponents, more time waiting if your character dies).
I think the only times I had fun with online shooters were with Quake 3, GunZ: The Duel and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, which were all very fast paced. Yeah, I haven't played any since the 2000s.

Waiting when you're dead is one of the worst aspects of Battle Royale, but Apex has basically solved this problem. You can revive your teammates when they get knockef down and are bleeding out as normal, but even if they get executed, you can still revive then by recovering their banner, which is to go over to their body hit a button and then find a something called a beavon on the map. There you can upload their banner into machine, and your teammate will respawn. It's the most clever solution to the waiting problem in any BR game. Personally, I've never waited longer than 2 minutes before the rest of my squad were dead or I've been respawned.

Also free to play, but hated before they were even out. Apex has removed Titans, wall running and double jumps, while keeping the rest of the movement system like sliding and ziplines. It also includes most weapons from Titanfall and introduces some new ones. It's set in the Titanfall universe with the characters being apart of the Apex Predators (one of the factions in Titanfall).

I absolutely love this game. To stratogustav : It is a game published by EA, but for some reason it's free, so it's obviously going to have lootboxes and microtransactions, but they don't break the game. Since they actually don't give an advantage, I feel it's justified. The lootboxes are only cosmetics, so there's no need to use money on it if you don't want to, I know I won't. It is set in the same universe as Titanfall, but doesn't need to have the mech in it. If you look for the story, you can actually find a pretty good reason for there not beeing mechs. Pluss out of the legends they have presented, none of them are pilots, which means no titans. Even though it's published by EA, it doesn't mean Respawn is shitty. To Cervantes : Balder is very correct. They fix a lot of the problems about waiting for your teamates to die since they have the revivie thingy. This is also a very fast paced game, so if you want, you can have games with mostly action

The double jump, and the running on walls sound cool. Although I still need a Pierce Brosnan skin to care. I would definitely play if they would do that.

I've been interested in trying PUBG for a while now. It's the only battle royale game that interests me.

Cervantes Damn dude you made me remember GunZ, I also didn't know Apex was supposed to take place in the same universe as Titanfall. I played through the campaign of Titanfall 2 and was surprised at how good it was.

winnersdontusedrugs - I saw a few reviews of Titanfall and I'm surprised, too - it seems to be one of those rare sightings of a modern AAA FPS series that demands skill to move your character around, it looks great. GunZ was really good, especially for a free-to-play game in the 2000s. That reminds me: one of the reasons why I was excited at the first trailers of Devil's Third was because it seemed to be a spiritual successor to GunZ made by Itagaki, Ninja Gaiden's director. Too bad it went nowhere. I know there is a real sequel to GunZ, but it didn't seem to be very exciting either.

Fantastic games.
