I saw that this was on Netflix and I wondered if I should watch it, so I put it on my watchlist. Great to get some confirmation that I'm going to watch this. Will watch it early next week.

One thing that really sucks about discussing this movie is that it's separating Cobra Stallone and Commando from each other in the vault.

Asked my roommate to watch a movie tonight. I asked if he would be interested in watching this, and we did. Here's my review:
"Comedy is a genre that movies have a hard time staying relevant in, and while Coming to America generally holds up well, it does stumble a little bit here and there. There are many comedy movies only 20 years old that are completely outdated and unfunny, but this had some great moments. Eddie Murphy is a funny guy, but most of the comedy comes from other characters besides him in this film. The story and setting are nothing out of the ordinary and even a little generic, but with its good cast it manages just fine. I was a little bit surprised that it was nominated to two Academy Awards, albeit it only being for costumes and make-up. Personally, I think it is a disgrace Soul Glo was not even nominated for best Original Song. That song is really my jam. Overall, a fine movie. It is entertaining, but I think the pacing would have been much better if the run-time was cut down from 2h to 1h 30min." 3/5
My roommate also gave it a 3/5.

Again, Balder misses the mark on another stone cold classic, but he’s at least right about the Soul Glo jingle being pretty tight. Eddie and Arsenio do a great job playing many different characters, such as Randy Watson and the bar fly that wanted to tear Eddie apart, and his friend, too. Over all, total Eddie classic. A 5/5. I just hope the sequel will live up to the original.

I thought we reviewed this one before, but maybe we just mentioned a couple of times because it is such a classic.
I give it 10 out of 10. If something is going to be in between Cobra and Commando I definitely prefer it to be this one over many other movies out there.

Eddie at his best, undoubtedly a 5/5 to me. I watched this so many times in the 90s, it was on tv every other week.
