You’ll watch this but not Commando... Don't worry, I have a good feeling I'll get to it some day. I don’t know if it makes any difference, but this movie doesn’t even have Arnold.

Yeah Hey MeleeMonk, what’s a better movie? This or Commando? Also, would this movie be improved if it starred Arnold?

I feel like this one really lacks in the one liner and wisecrack departments. It also lacks any sort of action or martial arts or cool stunts. Maybe you and Balder can get together for a Commando night sometime and both experience the adrenaline pumping excitement of Commando for the very first time. It would be like a bonding experience.

The Rabbit Proof Fence is by far my favorite australian film of all time. I first watched this film in school in 8th grade during our course on Australian history and along with Kangaroo Jack it was the first film to get me a part of the australian landscape, although that's only one of the reasons I love it so much.
Of all the movies I was shown in school I would say that The Rabbit Proof Fence and Death of a Salesman (the version starring Dustin Hoffman) are the two that have really stuck with me the most all these years later. I think that The Rabbit Proof Fence is the best historical drama ever made, much better than the Hollywood blockbusters I've seen like Titanic and even Schindler's List (yes, I said it. Come at me). I think what I love the most about the Rabbit Proof Fence is the acting, which feels like the complete inverse of acting seen in a film like Schindler's List; whereas the acting in that film feels like melodramatic stage acting, The acting in The Rabbit Proof Fence feels uber authentic and reminds me of acting in other similar indie-ish films like Beasts of the Southern Wild. I love it. It really makes the film for me, and I think this film deserves a lot of credit for not going with white lead actors like other mainstream historic dramas about similar subjects such as Glory and Mississippi Burning did. A very appropriate choice if you ask me.
And of course the issue that the film is centered on is an extremely important one that probably wasn't ever touched on in a film of this caliber before, so for that it deserves a lot of respect too.
In conclusion, I absolutely love The Rabbit Proof Fence for the authentic performances (especially by the lead aborigine girls), the cinematography, the setting, and the story. I proudly award it a 5/5. It's my favorite historical drama ever.

Here’s what would happen, I would be putting the commando tape in the vcr and find out you dubbed over it with some French movie with lots of talking. You’ll find a way to weasel out of it somehow.

Yeah, we're going to watch The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928).

MeleeMonk Keep in mind these kind of movies are never 100% accurate. Also, Scipioafricanus meant Quigley would've done more good than the removal program, which was well intentioned but completely misguided. As for aborigines helping themselves? Unfortunately, in this day and age, you don't hear many good things coming out of aboriginal communities in the outback. Incest, violence, petrol sniffing, unemployment, alcoholism. I doubt that it's entirely the white man's fault. We do have a few successful aborigines like Cathy Freeman and Ernie Dingo, but not many. Also, many aborigines aren't pure blood and look nearly as European as everyone else. Most, you really, really have to squint (or use divination magic) in order to look for telltale signs of their racial heritage. Some of these may use their "victim status" to take advantage of you. Personally, I think the aborigines, as a race, have NOT completely adjusted to a crafted, non-nomadic society. While other races have had hundreds of years to adjust, they only had around two hundred. They're not wired like the rest of us, at least not yet. Until the British came, the aborigines were nomadic and took whatever they wanted from the land. Life was simple. But when the British settled, they introduced to things like "Private property" and "land ownership". They would just hunt livestock because they assumed it was up for grabs, and this caused conflicts with the farmers. scipioafricanus Brother from another mother? Aw, thanks mate!
