Shinobi III! I've been hearing about this one for awhile and figured it was about time I checked it out.
Funny thing is I used to own this game and a bunch of others on Steam but I did not understand the acrobatic approach at all so I kept getting crushed on stage 2-2. Actually having the game in my hands (literally via 3DS) has helped immensely in my mastery of the ways of Shinobi and after achieving said mastery, I concede great enjoyment!

One of the best Genesis games and a great soundtrack.

Nice review, mate. You made me remember that, now that I got myself a 3DS, I should also look for 3DS Shinobi. It looks great from the reviews/videos I saw.

Just scored a copy myself, loose though it is. It's awesome to see the series continue on to the present day even if the reception was a bit lukewarm. Congrats on scoring a 3DS and thanks for the feedback!

Do you plan on also reviewing it?
By the way, I'm really digging your 3DS reviews, having just watched your videos on Sonic Generations and Liberation Maiden (a game that I love).

Cervantes - hoping to both review it and do a "hands-on" style video where I commentate over my first 20-30 minutes with it. I prefer the journalistic approach of making reviews but it does entail a lot of work, especially once that backlog starts backing up. And thank you for going out of your way to watch my videos! I was hoping you'd check out that Sonic Generations topic as we had touched on it some time in the last year or two and briefly discussed how the 3DS version was a bit gimped but I had no idea the levels were drawn from the ground up rather than ported from the original rendition. As per Liberation Maiden, I do love it in a strange way for representing an underutilized genre and though I think it has its share of faults, they are worth putting up with for the experience. I'm looking into a new one on the 3DS by developer Teyon called "Iron Combat." Doesn't look spectacular from the footage but from what games I've played/seen from them, Teyon has proved consistent.

This game is a tough nut to crack.

stratogustav - thank you! always appreciate the kind sentiments. centipede - I don't disagree. On the one hand, it's a very manageable game by comparison to the esteemed Revenge of Shinobi but on the other, the end boss is a nutcase. spooie - I love this game but it takes a certain mood to play it especially after having beaten it somewhat easily. I did read a snippet on the Shinobi movie via my favorite Sega news site but didn't make it past the headline.
