I've been playing this game so much this summer, so I wanted to discuss it specifically here.
FNV is definitely the best Fallout game. F3 was fantastic and really established what Fallout was going to be from here on out, however after playing FNV, I can see all its shortcomings. FNV took back role-playing, and in it you can get to decide pretty much anything. Just the fact that every single character in this game is killable (except for Yes Man who can respawn since he's a robot). It gives you so much freedom in how to handle things. Every quest has so many different options, and what I love is that you don't have to help every settlement like in other Fallout games. The Courier is basically a blank character who can be made into any character you want him to be. To be continued...

The story of FNV is completely different than F3's story. In F3 you're basically railroaded through the story with little room for making any meaningful choices. In FNV there are 4 major factions to choose from, not just 1 like in F3. Mr. House and Yes Man do feel a little bit similar, but all of them are really cool. This summer I beat the game with all factions, and it was very much worth it and see how New Vegas was affected. What I didn't know the first time is that the ending changes depending on choices you also made in side quests. That makes doing side quests so much more worthwhile. Also, the companions are like a hundred times better in FNV. You can have 2 at a time, and they actually have lengthy companion quests. The only problem with those are that they are way too specific to trigger (you'll have to look them up in how to trigger them in most cases). To be continued...

Great, except it becomes a buggy mess later and can not be completed in full on PS3.

Great, except it becomes a buggy mess later and can not be completed in full on PS3. New Vegas isn't the only Bethesda game which eventually breaks. Ever tried 100%ing Oblivion? Unless you're a speedrunner, good luck, because I don't think it's possible without fan patches since the game's animations become frozen around a couple hundred hours in: This glitch occurs on every platform. Most of the glitches in Oblivion are funny or exploitable but this one literally ruins the game for me.

Bethesda in house engines were always terrible. Even for Fallout 4 everyone knew they needed an update. I wonder if their next gen titles will fix that bad rep.

The glitches in FNV are a tragedy. There are so many glitches and it runs kind of poorly at times, even on Xbox. I'm sure it runs super smoothly on PC with mods, but it's such a shame Bethesda haven't contracted Obsidian to update it. I'm sure that's the only reason why this game hasn't been updated, Bethesda didn't make this game. One of the most fatal glitches is the one where the game fails to auto-save and it freezes and corrupts the auto-save. If you haven't been good at manually saving often, now all your progress has been been lost since you last auto-saved. This has happened to me more times than I would've liked to, and it has cost me many hours. Other smaller glitches ranges from broken quests and companions. It's annoying, but it hasn't ruined the game for me. When this game works, it's a blast, when it's glitching up it's fucking hell.

I have to go with the plot and setting of F3, but everything else is better in New Vegas.
Having seen the Arizona desert and surroundings, it would be exactly the same in a nuclear disaster. Washington DC was more dramatic.

Washington DC was more dramatic. I love the historical setting in F3 with all the cool monuments, buildings and museums, however, I didn't like the awful subway system.

I have 872 hours on the PC version of it. It's probably my favorite game of all time. It runs a hell of a lot better on PC than on console and that's no understatement. There's tons of mods for it you can download and a lot of performance mods to help make the game run better. I have 5 different characters on there across over 100 save game files and each one of them is so dang powerful they could probably fight the entire ncr and legion army's by themselves and not break a sweat.
On one of my characters I have personally killed over 7400 people across 255 hours of game play. As for mods I highly recommend New Vegas bounties by someguy2000. Download all 3 of them and play them because they're honestly better then the dlc's. Also get Alice in shadowload too and play that. I did a play through of it on my YouTube channel.

How is this relevant to the thread's subject? Hey, just an FYI Scipio: the internet isn't a free hub for gun worship. If you want to rave about guns, then at least have a relevant reason to do so. stratogustav could you delete his post please?

I haven't played the game, but isn't it a post apocalyptic setting? I think it is, so I imagine guns are related to that situation.
