3D fighters never held up for me. I really liked their earliest instalments but they eventually don't hold up for me as a series with the exception of Rival Schools and Vitua fighter which I think got better with every new instalment.

I remember having this game, but I don't recall playing it. This is probably the first game that end up in my backlog officially. Funny enough, Tekken 4 was going to have the same faith until a friend of mine came, and wanted to play it, so we end up playing it all afternoon, but I don't recall playing Tekken 4 after that. It is not that I didn't like those games because those are series I still love till this day. What happens is that when I got those games I was already starting to stop my gaming years. It wasn't until many years later when I became a Classic Game Room fan that I started getting interested in playing games again. It is strange, but I might have beat it on the arcades, I just can't recall because even when I already had the games at home, if I was at the mall for some reason I would stop for a few minutes at the arcade to check what they had. So it may had been SoulCalibur III. I know for sure I played I & II at the arcades, although I never owned the first SoulCalibur, I only had SoulCalibur II, and I was mostly playing my brother's copy because it had Link, which is a character that was not at the arcades. Even SoulCalibur IV I bought after SoulCalibur V was already out with all the DLC, which is when I bought SoulCalibur V as well. So I missed the hype at launch because I wasn't playing games in those years. I actually would like to go back and try it, but all my PS2 games end up with my brother, and he moved back to Rhode Island. 3D fighters never held up for me. I really liked their earliest instalments but they eventually don't hold up for me as a series with the exception of Rival Schools and Vitua fighter which I think got better with every new instalment. Not me, I definitely like 3D fighters a lot. The ones that are hard for me to get into are arena fighters like the Power Stone games back in the day, or newer stuff like Xenoverse, J-Stars, Jump Force, etc.. Those I don't like. I do like the Saint Seiya ones, but that's just because I love the Saint Seiya IP way too much.

Aw man Power Stone is like one of my favourite games ever. I like Project Justice which is 3D, but I couldn't get into arena games like Destrega.

I don't know what to think of Soul Calibur 3. Even when it was originally released I had conflicted feelings about it, since I remember being incredibly disappointed that it was a PS2 exclusive (which was a problem for me since I only owned a GC at the time), but I also saw the new features such as the character creator as just a gimmick and not what I wanted from a sequel to SC II. I was also disappointed by the lack of new fighters (just three), of which only Zasalamel and Tira interested me.
But when I heard Armored Core Raven rave about the game in the SC series discussion thread a few years back I became interested in trying the game. But as soon as I learned that SC III streamlined the gameplay by supposedly removing fighting stances from returning characters, I became skeptical again. Casualization of the fighting game genre is one of my most despised trends in gaming, so this factor alone was enough to turn me away from SC III, despite its abundance of content.
I still have never played the game and I'm not sure yet if I want to buy a copy.

I don't remember much about this game as I haven't played it since 2007 or so. I recall liking that Chronicles of the Sword mode.
