Per SpiderShinobi's request, I hereby re-open the Megami Tensei thread from the WindSquid Pub. For starters, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne's opening
Having recently given up on this game, the ball is in your court, people.

Always glad to see some Megaten going on. I'm not currently playing through anything in the series (meta-series?), but I was pleased to see this recently: www.tradukosoft.com/2016/01/939/TLDR; two teams working on a fan translation of the PSP version of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment have joined forces. After finishing the PSP version of Innocent Sin, I started in on the PS1 version of Eternal Punishment and found it to be kind of clunky. I figured the fans would come through on this sooner or later. I love those fine fan translators that have enabled me to play, among others, Fatal Frame 4, Valkyria Chronicles 3, Fire Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow, and Mother 3 in english.

Persona 2 Eternal Punishment PSOne version is unplayable for me, i tried my best to persevere, but i just can't handle it. Innocent Sin on PSP was really good, i may try that again someday. Currently im stuck in Nocturne with one of the bosses in midgame. It came at a bad time so i said screw it, that was a few months back. May restart Raido Kazunoha since i haven't played that in probably a year.

Started Strange Jounrey (Finally) and its really great so far. It falls in line with the older MegaTen games, specifically the first SMT game, but this time its a much more sci-fi, than religious cults. Seems like im gonna love this one.

Persona 5 this year, hopefully.
And if Nocturne or Digital Devil Saga show up on PS4 with trophies I might just find that as my excuse to play them again.

I'm more excited to play the remakeof P2 Eternal Punishment on PSP than Persona 5 Pimpjira There is something thats not clicking with me regarding that game. I've still to get around DDS. Anyhow. I'm absolutely loving Strange Journey. There is just something about it that reminds me of an X-File episode. Overall i feel like the MegaTen games are really well balanced, unlike most RPGs now, where lvl-ing up is the key factor in progressing through the game, MegaTen games have so many variables and factors to winning battles its ridiculous at times. So im early into Strange Journey, i'm up against a tough boss battle while severely under leveled. I died once, only to take notes came back again and knew his attack patterns and weaknesses, while it promptly kicked my butt, i've managed to win. There is this nifty feature in Strange Journey, if your party members have similar skills and the enemy is weak to one of those skills, you could deliver multiple blows in succession. For example, an enemy you're fighting is weak to fire based attacks, if you use Fire on it, and one of your party members has a fire attack as well, they'll hit the enemy as well, while not using their turn. It's kinda like Nocturne's system, where if you hit an enemy's weakness, you'll get an extra turn, but here its different enough to be unique. Phew, haven't made a post this long in awhile xD

So this happened when i was roaming in a dungeon: Koppa Tengu: I ain't satisfied with how my life is going, until i saw this human somewhere with demons following him, and thats when i realized what i must do...
*Koppa Tengu is looking at you with expectations*
game gives me 2 choices: ask for it to become your demon or ignore it.
I chose the former.
Koppa Tengu: YEAH! I want in on the fun... NOT!!
Koppa Tengu: What kind of moron would fall for this trick?
*Koppa Tengu proceed to wreck me*
-_- Got trolled by a demon.

I love the negotiation aspect of the SMT series. The sheer anticipation for demon responses to behavior are baffling and hysterical. One of the best gifts Spider Shinobi left me in the old forums was a referral to check out Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon. I'm currently 11 hours in and on chapter 3 and it's blown the other 2 SMT games I've played out of the water. Voice acting has become a trend in this series and while certainly an extra layer of personable interaction, I find that DS2 plays better without any; it leaves more to interpretation and room to enjoy the soundtrack. I'll be back to post more thoughts later and link a review/post-play impressions when and considering I do them!
SMT hoes, bankrolls and clothes for life!

What's up ladies and gentlemen!? Jack Frosts and Lanterns alike! Nice to be back with you guys, and thanks a lot for this, fsfsxii ! It's also very nice to know that I managed to guide someone into something cool, and teddykongcountry , I have just finished King Abaddon the other day with almost 80 hours clocked in. I finished under the chaotic ideology, got a quite satisfying ending, pretty happy with that, and I have also arranged a few powerful Element and Spirit demons for the next playthrough in King Mode I hopefully do somewhere in the future. Just a hint for you teddy: while fusing, enter and re-enter the preview of the demon as many times as you want right in the early game so you get the skills you want. Chances are you aren't a sick perfectionist like me, but I had a really pissed moment in which I tried to get great skills in a high level fusion but couldn't get the strongest moves in because one of the demons I was fusing had the skill "Patra" on him, and low level skills get a lot of priority in fusions, so I should have gotten them out of my demons sooner. AAAAAAAaaaannnnd, as hyped as I am for Persona 5, people owning a 3DS should be mad with pleasure by now:

Tell me about it spider. What kills me about my fused pyro Jack (highest level critter for the time being) is that it knows agi but can't use it because it doesn't have a yellow tab. Granted, I haven't read the manual but to my understanding, skills without a yellow tab next to them are only good for breeding. It's not a complaint but more of a nuisance than anything. Then again, the game has not proven terribly challenging insofar. Intense certainly but I await the gradual intensifiers I have come to know, expect and love from Shin Megami Tensei. In due time though, I am have no intent to rush a 60+ hour game that I know I'm loving.
The trailer you linked brings out the best for 3DS owners but I can only imagine when us stateside demon hunters will get to partake in said festivities. I wouldn't have guessed it be a SMTIV expansion if it weren't for the smart phone appearance or the news of the game's release Japan-side. Love the little "Hee haw" cameo there too!

Its funny, i remember why i joined the old forums, had a feeling there would be people talking about SMT, and there was the MegaTen topic. I've started the first Raidou game last year, played a few hours, loved it but had no time for it. Currently playing through Strange Journey, and it reminds me alot of the first SMT game. I would suggest buying it. SMT4Final looks pretty damn good, protagonist reminds me of Demi-Fiend from Nocturne. Hopefully we'll get the game this year for the west, since the japanese release is in Feb.

About King Abaddon:teddy, this will sound frustrating for you, but all you needed to do was going in the Menu to find the tab to select which skills will be active. Those yellow markers are set by us, they just come pre-marked so your shiny new demon doesn't start battles with no skills equipped. You can't select more than 4 skills in addition to "Strike", so the unselected skills aren't just for future fusions, they're your backup. That means you can very well fuse a godlike demon that will fit in multiple situations. As for the challenge, by the end of the game I had fused multiple super demons - in fact my next objective in-game is to fuse a godlike Sylph with Luci's broken passive skill - so much that I wish King Mode was available from the start like how you can to hard mode right from the beginning in Nocturne. About SMT IV FINAL:Actually I don't think this game is an expansion at all, I think they just took the honest route with naming conventions since the game is running literally in the same engine and must be using several of the same assets as SMT IV, but still featuring whole new events. By my current avatar everyone can tell how I feel about the HEEHAW thing ; the TATSUYA in there also got me. And I dig the protagonist's style at the same time that I don't like his hair... It's a weird feeling. Funny thing that I never got a 3DS because the only game I ever wanted for it was Soul Hackers, and I wasn't terribly sold on the system just for that, but now I know there will be 3 games (1 of them not MT related)... Still not sold, but things could change. About Strange Journey:I actually find Strange Journey rather easy, and I hate that there's that "assist" gimmick to it. But this won't really bother you until you begin fusing really OP demons, which is something that comes early to me because of how anal I am with fusing. When it comes to that game, I really love the setting, and I finished both Chaos and Law endings, but I fear for my Neutral playthrough because I may have broken my game... You see, in previous moments I've had Zelenin and Magical Drop's The World in my party. Oh... I hope that doesn't break my cartridge. Btw, how many of you guys know about the one official Megami Tensei game on Ps3 right now and the spiritual sequel which happens to be very, very similar to Strange Journey, also on Ps3?
