Sadly no CGR reviews for the PSP versions, but there is a CGRundertow review for the PS2 port of Dark Mirror.

Dark Mirror was one of my first PSP titles. When I first got it, I got used to the controls, but now they feel weird after playing with two analog sticks for so long.
It's not as "guns blazing" as Resistance: Retribution, and is more methodical. No alien guns with shields or wall-phasing, but silenced pistols, machineguns and regular army ordinance, except Gabe has this special rifle with 3 rounds each of elemental ammo, three each: taser, explosion, gas and conventional. Plus, a taser wire and a knife for when you can't use a gun. He also has four modes of vision: a torch, infrared, nightvision and electronic sensor.
Besides the side story missions, you have challenges. Complete them and you'll get bonuses like extra health or ammo. So, you'll still have stuff to do after you beat the game.
The plot of these games makes me think this was written for a James Bond flick. But Logan's Shadow delves more into Gabe Logan's character and ends on a cliffhanger. And then no third game was made.

Same here, I had a handful games before Dark Mirror came out, so it wasn't my first, but it was one of the earliest.
I was a huge fan of the original trilogy, still am, and having been disappointed by Omega Strain on PS2, I wanted a proper next gen Syphon Filter that went back to what made the original trilogy so great, while also upgrading it to the technical standards of the day, and with my shiny new PSP being my favorite thing ever, I couldn't have wished for a better system to get it on! I also got the PS2 port a little later on, which was the next best thing I could've wished for.
Dark Mirror is till one of my favorite games and I'm glad Logan's Shadow followed it up nicely. I didn't get myself a copy of Logan's Shadow until fairly recently but I played it a bit back in the day, so I always knew it was good too.
I'm voting for Dark Mirror since both are equally magnificent and I can only go by my own subjective, biased and personal nostalgia as a truly defining factor.

PSPs are good looking, I wouldn't mind having one, or a Vita, but I never jump on the opportunity because I'm already behind with everything else I already have, so getting into another system would be useless since it will likely end up in my backlog.

I've always been interested in trying the Syphon Filter games.
Sony had some seriously talented first party developers during the 5th, 6th, and 7th gens. Very sad that many of them aren't around anymore.

I've always thought about trying the Syphon Filter games but never get around to it. I probably would have finally jumped on if the rumored reboot a few years back was a thing, so long as they didn't ruin it.
