Contrary to popular belief, walking simulators are fun!
Okay, maybe "fun" is not the right word here so let's try "deep."
By "deep," I don't mean that Journey has deep mechanics, I just mean like when you hear something that makes you tear and you go "Wow, man that's deep." Yeah, that kind.
Journey excels in providing players with some outstanding visuals due no doubt to the hardware capabilities of the Playstation 4 (although I'm sure the PS3 version looks pretty "deep" as well). It also strikes a nice balance between environments and slow and fast parts so you never feel like you're doing too much of the same thing at any given moment.
With that being said, Journey is far from the masterful video game it's made out to be. There's hardly a story to be found and even the segments that portray events in the archaeological chambers ostensibly hail from moments you have encountered or are going to encounter. On top of that, the excitement is really limited to the 1 hr. 20 min. playthrough and arguably, only a half hour or so of it really will have you marveling at the screen.
Journey is not a bad game by any means but it also has room to go a lot "deeper."
For that reason, I give it three out of five fish in a barrel (it has to plunge further to get the other two).

Whoa! Where's all that editing coming from? Have you got a capture card too?
Btw, have you played flower? It's a previous "game" made that same studio. It goes for a slightly more minimal approach for the visuals, and unfortunately for you it already does most of what Journey does - so it wouldn't be a new thing for you. But between flower and Journey I find the former more generally likeable, so if you have the opportunity you might enjoy it more.

I have this game because of Plus and had never give myself the chance to play it. After everything I have heard about it I want to leave for the perfect opportunity where I know I will be able to play it all the way through and experience it the way it is meant to be experienced in one sitting. Balder can you add this one to the review threads directory? Don't forget to add Teddy next to it.

Balder can you add this one to the review threads directory? Don't forget to add Teddy next to it. I'll add it when I have some time. And should I not credit Dan E. Kool as well? He is the owner of that account after all.

Aw, you guys are all swell (even you sometimes Balder ). spidershinobi - the name Flower rings a bell but presuming it's on the PS3, that's a console I'm unlikely to buy. Also as you said, if it's nearly the same game as Journey, there's not much I'd be missing not having played it. I definitely appreciate the mention though; I'll do some research. P.S. Would you believe I've been using Windows Movie Maker to edit my videos for the past 10 years? I tried a demo for Sony Vegas Pro and it was incredibly complicated so for me, the simpler is usually the better. stratogustav - Journey is definitely the type of game you want to experience in a full sitting and tranquil setting. It's closer to technical showpiece than it is an actual game but the experience is that of eye and ear candy, so to speak. And thanks for pushing Balder to do his job, although a true keeper of the forums should be always watchful and cognizant of the happenings in the different threads and ready to hyperlink reviews no matter the time or place. Balder - You should always credit Dan E. Kool for maintaining order and keeping the peace.

Balder - You should always credit Dan E. Kool for maintaining order and keeping the peace. Thanks, Ted. It's nice to see that my efforts are appreciated. My modesty keeps me from bringing it up myself.

It might be on Ps4 too. Just play a demo or watch someone playing the first level. It's very evident what it does different from Journey.

I haven't played it myself, but supposedly you would only get full enjoyment out of Journey if paired with another player (anonymously) for a 2-player online shared experience.
Flower (which I have played), by contrast is single player only, so of course it would be better solo.
The kewl thing about flower though, is its controls - The best use of the six-axis (or any other) motion control on a Sony console that I have experienced. Just hold your controller single handed as if you were holding a toy plane... then make it fly to sweet synesthetic rhythm.

Early Ps3 games really explored that side. In Folklore the system for capturing ids (literally id) was by getting demons dizzy, then focusing on them and performing the action required by moving the controller, some were just about accompanying, others by shaking and stoping while you were meant to stop, and others.
Sure beats using the stylus in Castlevania...

leaon79s - I can speak to the enjoyment with a second, anonymous player. Since there is no telling how the player you connect with wants to enjoy the game (slowly or feets blazing), that second player can either make or hinder your appreciation of the experience. It's nice to have someone who's cooperative because you can fly with them around the map and keep recharging the meter but the world is not so open that you can take full advantage of that capability and journey where you please. spidershinobi - It sounds interesting from what I'm hearing and it keeps coming up in conversation so I'll be sure to take your advice.
