Balder You need to watch this movie. dschult3 was gracious enough to recommend this one years ago, and I can never thank him enough for it. The trailer actually doesn't do it justice.

I watched it while I was stationed at Futenma. Most of us had never heard of the movie before then, but since then, all of us watch it religiously. That was 15 years ago now. Good God, where has the time gone?

Ah, boondock saints. The film everyone loved 10 years ago but seem to shit all over today.
Billy Connelly is in it. Enough said.
Though the story behind the making of this film is just as interesting. The director thought he was the next Quentin Tarrantino and went all Axl Rose on everybody.

Wow, I have never watched it. It looks AWESOME. Does Saints Row references this movie or the titles are just a coincidence?
Edit: Yes, it seems it does. There's a sniper rifle called McManus, which is modeled after a weapon used by MacManus in the movie.

These weekly film threads will now become my source to find movies I need to watch. I never heard of this one for example.

Cervantes and stratogustav, Let us know what you think of the movie. I'm interesting in hearing a fresh perspective on one of my favorite guilty pleasures.

dschult3 can you believe it's been more than 2 years ago we discussed this movie? Man time sure flies by fast, it feels like we discussed this thing yesterday. I was always going to watch this and I can't believe it took me this long. Solid choice I must say: "So impressed by this thing, one of the quintessential cult films no doubt. I expected some over the top action set pieces, but what I got was so much more. First off, it is hilarious. Everything from Dafoe's character calling the guy he just fucked a fag to one of the saints slamming down on the table and blasting the cat, top notch comedy. Dafoe is just amazing in this. He is great in everything he is in, but this one is one of his best in opinion. It is cool to see Norman Reedus in something else than fucking The Walking Dead. The cast seems to a have good time and it is a blast to watch them. By saying that this is more than just an action film, I mean it. The scene where Dafoe's character breaks down the shootout that took place was really amazing to watch, and beautifully done. I love the story behind how this film was made. The director is just some random dude that wrote a script and then got to direct the film itself. He also directed the sequel, but never bothered to make anything else. He has got a pretty good track record then, because this is one of the absolute best CGR recommendation I have watched. It is shame it took me this long to watch it. This is even something I would buy on Blu-Ray just to rewatch it in better quality than what Netflix has to offer. Seriously one to watch if you are looking for a good time and something that does not take itself too seriously." 4.5/5.

The sequel has some flaws, but it is fun. This one is definitely great, though.

I'm going to watch every single movie discussed on this forum, but it's going to take some time when something's not available anywhere. After I bought VPN so many movies became available to me.

I think I'm going to watch this again this week. Since my kids are older, I have to wait until they're asleep though.
