Double Dragon on the Atari 2600? My brother had it on his system.
Watching the player elbow everyone shows me where we were both going wrong playing it.

I'm shocked that the 2600 could handle this. I'm also shocked that they had multiple modes of play. 2 Player mode? Wow...

This franchise was more popular than people want to give it credit for. I would say it was on par with Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. Maybe it didn't get a Jean Claude Van Damme movie, but it was definitely up there in terms of popularity.
No wonder it was ported to the 2600. When an IP is promising it makes it to all sort of available places. Just look on how many platforms you can play Minecraft nowadays. It is the same deal.
Activision were masters of the 2600. They were the most professionals when it came to making games look like something. If someone was going to take this challenge, I agree they were the most indicated for the task.

No, I think we all knew the franchise was big. What I didn't know was that it made it to the 2600 and I'm surprised by the features it has.

I had seen it before, and it sure does look impressive - it looks less like a game from the time and more like these new 2600 homebrews made nowadays, like Halo or Sonic.
It also seems it plays like crap, but Activision's programmers probably weren't worried about that and did it just to show they could.

Aren't most homebrews larger or add more RAM than your standard Atari 2600 game?
