I forgot this came out in 1990! I also forgot Bill Paxton was in this. (May he rest in peace.) This is...OK. It is a let down from the original, that's for sure.

It's a great action movie with all the over-the-top action, but the Predator parts are weak, which is a shame because this is supposed to be a Predator film. It should have just dropped the Predator license and gone full 80's action. 3/5 okay, not nearly as good as the original.
The original had a fantastic blend between action and Predator scenes, this is a bad mix. Not a terrible mix, but bad.

This is an ok movie. Nothing great but it was fun. Not as good as the original since it didn’t have Arnold in it but it did have some Danny, some Paxton, and, most importantly, some Busey. Speaking of Arnold, Balder have you seen Commando yet?

Dan E. Kool I say anything with xenomorphs or predators is fair game, they're our modern horror monsters. Sadly, I haven't seen this one, only its first minutes - I remember thinking it was strange that it was set in a city. I'll see if I can watch it this week. Balder - watch Commando, mate. Make cobretti happy.

Very underrated sequel, and definitely a swan song for 80s thrillers. I always had mad respect for Predator 2, even at worst I still saw it as a decent movie. It's weird, because as a kid I preferred the first Predator over 2, and while I still do enjoy the first film, I enjoy 2 much more as an adult. I'm glad they got rid of the Rambo tone of the first film and went for a different setting (the 80s was too oversaturated with Rambo-esque thrillers IMO). Predator 2 also looks a lot clearer and crisper than the first film, which I found a bit grainy.
Not a perfect movie, but I still love it for what it is; an ultra violent, profanity-laced sci-fi thriller. They just don't make movies like this anymore. I do think Predator 2 has some outstanding scenes (like the ally scene or the opening brawl in the streets & warehouse). Sure the directing could be better in some areas, but when it's good it's phenomenally good. I still watch it from time to time and have never gotten tired of it. Love the quotable profanity, love the violence, love the action scenes...I'm very fond of it. It was truly the last of its kind, made right before the MPAA neutered the genre.
I rate 5/5
