Yar's Revenge is easily one of the best 2600 titles, and it's an original title, not a port from another system or arcade. I'm not very good at it, but it's one of those games I would like to play some more. The reason why I choose this game is because Howard Scott Warshaw is coming to Retrospillmessen next year. I don't know if I'm going, but it would be awesome meeting one of the top programmers from Atari.

I only ever played the Gameboy port but that game was surprisingly addicting. Hitting the enemy with the zorlon cannon can be a pain in the ass but can be one of the most satisfying things in videogames when it hits, especially if it's a particularly tough shot.

I sincerely don't have patience to play most 2600 games for more than five minutes or so nowadays (emulating the arcade originals spoiled me), but my heart always has a place for Yar's Revenge. It is more addictive than it initially seems to be. Maybe the fact that it was developed with the 2600 in mind makes it stand out.
By the way, wasn't there a modern revival that was an on-rails shooter? Is it any good? I thought about getting it on Steam, but it seemed so-so.

I can play that shit for hours.

Yars' Revenge is in my opinion the best game of the system competing like Cervantes said with the most popular arcade titles of the era, something that for a home console was impossible to accomplish at the time, but Yar's Revenge did it.

Finally worked out how to play it last night. Take a few bites out of the shield, fly back, power up the wave cannon, fire and dodge it at the same time.
