Interesting that for some of you all that has to happen is a better alignment of stars. I guess Nintendo somehow is still missing some easy targets! For me though, it would take me either a re-threading or a revisiting of older places in the series. Can't explain right now. Pokemon did not die when the third gen games came out. I've played every Pokemon game except the new ones. It died for me when it became nothing but dumb WiFi battling on the ds and became competitive instead of just a complete the pokedex game. Now I only play Pokemon ROM hacks nowadays with my favorite out of the ones I played being liquid crystal and resolute version. I didn't know about the competitive side of it until someone told me a few weeks ago. It was surprising for me to know that kind of stuff existed on a handheld device. Well, it has been the actual focus of the games from day one, so I'm surprised you guys didn't know about it. cobrettiI assume the words "Jynx" and "Gardevoir" escape you. Don't thank me. I can't imagine that being a good experience. Ok, I can, but you get my point.

As much as I'd like to see the kind of gameplay that teddykongcountry outlined, I think ☝ is what will keep that from happening. There are Pokemon tournaments and everything.

Dan E. KoolI think you guys are actually looking forward to a different type of game... Honestly, this type of game you guys want have existed for a while now, it just happens to not have been a Pokémon title. I'm actually super curious if they will keep taking the Stadium approach now that the Switch is the main system, or if the contents of the Stadium will be an expansion, or part of the regular content in-game. Gardevoir is a bit on the flat side tbh fam I mean, I can't really say a lot now. It's not like I can prove my point further than what I just did.

If the game was lude like that, I would be playing it for sure.

Honestly, this type of game you guys want have existed for a while now, it just happens to not have been a Pokémon title. Name it. First there's the series Pokémon copycatted itself into existence from: Megami Tensei. Almost every game in that series has been that, specially the Shin Megami Tensei ones. If you want ones that resemblem Pokémon Stadium the most, then definitely Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne is what you would be looking for, but there are many variations of it. For the record - because it isn't playable anymore - Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine is the closest I have seen any game get to that "Pokémon feel", but it was a real-time action RPG. Then there's the Dragon Quest Monsters series, which may or may not have started as a reaction to Pokémon Green way back then. However I'm not aware of any HD release in this series. Then there's Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth. This game is exactly what you guys may be asking for, and it was released only a couple of years ago and should be easy to acquire. And the best part is that all of these have pedigree, so it's not like I'm telling you guys to go play shitty games.

spidershinobiI appreciate the awesome recommendations, but looking into those games I think what I'm looking for in a new Pokemon game is different than what those have or even what teddykongcountry alluded to. I think the most recent 3DS games already do that. My "dream" Pokemon game is a 3D open world adventure game (like Zelda), but with real time battles (more like Pokken Tournament). Like I said, I know it won't happen. But it'd be cool if it did.

Earlier I said how I'd like to see a re-threading of the series. So let me specify what I was trying to say there. Pokémon got to complicated to just have fun. While this has always been true, there were exploits way back in the old games that made it less of a glaring issue, but never has it been more true that you can train and love a poké to find out that it can't defeat a single opponent regardless of your strategy, both because of IVs (existent from day 1) and effort points from training. Why does Pokémon, as the casual game series it is, forces everyone to breed and train like hardcore professionals? Because of Fire Emblem Heroes, a game that does feature IVs, Pokémon looks extra bad for doing it long before and never having gotten it right. Also, Alola forms! This feature came out too late in the history of the franchise! Back in Pokémon Gold/Silver we had the soft-retcon that Houndour would show up in the same places Growlithe would, and because they're largely the same creature, one just edgier than the other, I have to say that we should have been getting alternate versions way, way earlier. Another thing is revisiting types, I see that they did go back and slowly fixed some, but still, they could do much better. In the end what I mean is that they should have worked harder on polishing aspects that either don't make sense, or are just there to obfuscate gameplay and make the games less fun. spidershinobi I appreciate the awesome recommendations, but looking into those games I think what I'm looking for in a new Pokemon game is different than what those have or even what teddykongcountry alluded to. I think the most recent 3DS games already do that. My "dream" Pokemon game is a 3D open world adventure game (like Zelda), but with real time battles (more like Pokken Tournament). Like I said, I know it won't happen. But it'd be cool if it did. I lived through this thing you said then, but inside a series I'm more attuned to. Way back around 2009 there was a MMO called Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine. It was an action RPG in which you fight through the wastelands of the aftermath of the first Shin Megami Tensei and see the beginning of a process of re-civilization in Japan. Evidently mechanics from previous games were the basis for that one, so we would walk through the wilderness and try to make friends with the demons we were most interested in, maybe fuse them to get others. It felt more like Pokémon than Pokémon felt once you were done with it because we could only have 1 demon out of the system at a time and we would order it around and give general directions oh how to act in combat if we didn't have time to direct them. Also, demons would still ask you to do daily missions for them, so for example, my Pixie would always find a grudge against a certain demon type and ask me to slay a bunch of them. I had some fun times. But that's over, the game has died some time ago.
