They had to come. The success of the Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection was massive on the PS3, as a business they simply can't ignore those numbers.
We have to consider these games had been restored for HD screens and they are part of the extraordinary 16 bit generation.
The other part belongs to Nintendo, a closed system environment. Sega is on the other hand, multiplatform, and they can't just not take advantage of that situation.

I have the Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection on the PS3, but I would definitely consider grabbing this as well at some point.

If this list is to be believed, no Thunder Force. So that's it - I'm out. Still, I wonder whether there'll be a Plat in it for each game... Seriously doubt it though... More likely a gold for each and then a plat for completing all of them... At least there's the Streets of Rage trilogy and Phantasy Star IV...

I thought Sega had acquired Technosoft to include their games in future collections, but it seems I was wrong. Also, why the hell do them keep nixing Phantasy Star 1 from these releases? I know it's a Master System (instead of Mega Drive) game, but still: is it so hard to have the complete classic series in a single release? Besides those omissions, I think the list is pretty solid. Another thing that I don't get is why Sega keeps pushing the Mega Drive version of VF2 - it's the most terrible version that game could have and there were better fighting games on the Mega Drive. But it's still better to have it than not. EDIT: Hey, wait a minute, have they not included Sonic 3 & Knuckles again? What's up with that? EDIT 2: I thought after their official translation and western release a few years ago, Monster World 4 would be included in future collections. It seems they ditched it again.

It seems to be a straight port of the games that are Steam. They don't always skip Phantasy Star 1, it was on the PS3/360 collection.

Always virtually the same games. Why buy when you got a compilation on a previous generation, unless it's been expanded? Pimpjira Speaking of Phantasy Star, they remade the first two games for the PS2 but they never got released outside Japan. Those are what I want to see!

Not only that; as part of that "Sega Ages" line, they also remade Space Harrier, Golden Axe, Die Hard Arcade, Panzer Dragoon, Dragon Force and a few others. I ask myself why haven't Sega ported these - even if some of them are inferior to the originals, they are still worth the curiosity and better than keep releasing the exact same games. I, for one, would love to see Dragon Force being available to current consoles. Pimpjira - It's a bummer that the new compilation is a step back in that regard, then.

Cervantes I bought a Sega Ages compilation first hand when I first got my PS2, which contained 3D versions of old MD games. No Die Hard, Panzer or Shining Force, though. You mean you never saw them over there? What happened with Phantasy Star is that Sony didn't like them, because the games didn't look 3D enough to promote the PS2's technology.

Too bad there's no Switch release. Would've been nice.

Too bad there's no Switch release. Would've been nice. I'm sure it has something to do with the retro service they are going to offer.
