Not many of you know this, but because I live in a rural area, I have very limited options when it comes to choosing internet services, and they all suck. So far my mum and I have been through 2: the first one was Century Link, which was slow and very unreliable, usually cutting out or slowing down drastically whenever there was a storm/bad weather, and sometimes afterwards if the weather was really bad it could go out for days, and the customer service was terrible. So after more than a decade of putting up with it we finally ditched the service in favor of Hugh's Net, which is a satellite-based internet service. It's a lot more reliable and rarely ever goes out, but the catch is that it is because it's a satellite-based service it is so ungodly slow! How slow you may ask? Well on a good day I can average a ping of 650 when gaming online. And on a bad day? That ping is gonna be over 1,000 and it ain't commin' down! It's infuriating not to be able to play games online, but unfortunately that's the price I have to pay when living in the countryside. It's out of my control and there's nothing I can do about it. I hear that in other countries the outlook is much brighter when it comes to rural internet service. For example, my bro told me that in places like China you can still get a good internet connection even if you're living in a rural location, but I can't confirm if this is true or not. But enough about my misery. I'd like to hear your opinions on your internet service.

My area is similar. I live in an area surrounded by mountains. We had a big snow storm last night, but my Internet was fine. I went out for a bit to hang out with a friend, the road was slippery as hell, but I managed to get back without issues after dropping her off, and it was nice to come back and have the Internet running fine.
It is slow in comparison to other more urban areas, but it is good enough for my needs. My carrier is AT&T and I think that is my only option other than satellite. A friend of mine has satellite and all I hear is that it sucks. So I'm stuck with AT&T, luckly I haven't had any major issues with them.

The internet situation blows for people out in the country here in the good ole US of A. I feel bad for you Melee. I’ve read about rural communities wanting to build out the infrastructure themselves but get cock blocked by the area telecom that had no idea interest in laying the cable anyway. It’s unfair.
In my area I’m lucky to have the option to get my internet from a regional provider and not get stuck with a Comcast or Time Warner. I just have a basic internet package, no data caps, and no bullshit. It’s nice.

I used to have 24 in ping at the last place I lived. It was incredible. Now I have 50, which is also pretty damn good.
