...each WINDOWS OS, that is. And once you've given your synopsis of each, choose a favorite. Since I've only had experience with XP and Windows 10, I'll only talk about those two. WINDOWS XP: What I like about XP: -Absolutely no compatibility issues with physical copies of games -Comes packaged with Windows Movie Maker -Plays movies out of the box What I dislike about XP: -Doesn't come packaged with video capturing software like Windows 10 (although given it was released around 2000 that's totally understandable) -Has spec limits -Is no longer supported by Microsoft Windows 10:
What I like about Windows 10: -Comes packaged with Game Bar, which is a phenomenal capturing software (the best I've ever used, although I'm sure better such software exists, even though it isn't free like Game Bar) -Updated some classic programs like MS Paint and such What I dislike about Windows 10: -Can't play movies out of the box -Severe compatibility issues with physical games (i.e. incompatible with many forms of DRM) -Does not ship with several classic programs like Windows Movie Maker -Controversial/invasive marketing strategies by Microsoft I'm not sure which of the two I prefer, although I'd probably go with XP just as a fan of older games, as well as for the nostalgia. Alright, so that's my thoughts on the two OS that I've used. I'd love to hear what you guys like and dislike about all the OS you've used.

They all feel about the same since Windows 3.1. Although I have to say MS-DOS makes you feel smarter for some reason, using all those prompts and commands.
The best one is probably Windows 7 Pro because it is easy to remove DRM in a complete lossless way.
Honestly anything before XP felt better because you had more tools at your disposition for free, like Access, Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows Movie Maker, Nero, Photoshop, etc..
Nowadays everything costs money and you can't even buy it, you can only rent them. It feels like a Street Fighter game where all characters are paid DLC, and the DLC expires.

I can't stand the rental model they're using nowadays. I always thought the paid model was a little expensive, but this shit is just ridiculous. Adobe Photoshop has gone the same route. I'll have to use something different once my college license expires, because I won't pay for that shit.

I tried using the DOSbox emulator and failing to figure out all those commands prompts left me feeling like a massive dumbass. It felt like rocket science to me.

It felt like rocket science to me. But if you knew how to use them properly you would feel otherwise, which further proves the point. That said, it is a good thing OS are more accessible nowadays so no one feels afraid to take advantage of using the tools they offer. The whole purpose of computing is to make things easier, and that's why we moved onto more intuitive interfaces.

Balder and stratogustav - I've been using LibreOffice as a substitute for Microsoft Office. It has every functionality, is fully compatible with Office, has a great interface and is free - no ads or anything, completely free (it's an open source project). I would even argue that its substitute for Word is better than the Microsoft version. I also hate this new "rent" model, it's complicated and makes no sense - especially when you have better options for free. stratogustav's comparison to Street Fighter is surprisingly accurate, that's pretty much how I feel.

Yeah, there are substitutes that is probably just as good or better. The only thing I miss in some of the substitutes is Norwegian grammar control.

While exploring my Windows 7 laptop the other day I made a joyous discovery; Microsoft Wordpad! For some reason I hadn't heard of it before, but it's basically a simpler version of Microsoft Word but it still lets you edit the font, print documents, and other essential stuff like that. It's PERFECT for what I want to do. And, what's better, it is even featured with Windows 10 (although I never noticed it before; apparently Microsoft changed its location within the OS). For those of you like myself who were looking for basic software to type/print simple documents as an alternative to Word, then just use Word Pad. No third party software necessary.
