centipede - Yes, some people are messed up in what they choose to be a fan of and there's definitely some form of Werther Effect at play. With this talk about how the media reports things I keep thinking about this huge problem: on one hand, you want to held the media accountable for what they do and to avoid the existence of sensationalist news; on the other hand, creating laws to held media accountable can very easily go out of control and lead to censor, which is also terrible. But there should be at least some guidelines to how certain crimes and controversies should be covered. Sounds familiar

Of all the countries in the world to live, why anyone would pick one where mass shooting happen every week and gun control is virtually non-existent is beyond me. I don't understand why people enjoy gunning pedestrians down and running them over in Grand Theft Auto, but when a different game does the same thing in a school setting it becomes "unacceptable". Shooters of every kind have always involved killing innocent people at some point, and if GTA didn't let you do it, nobody would want to play it. I just don't see why there's a fuss being thrown about this when video games have never been responsible for shootings. There's no need to get so defensive all the time, man. We're talking about video games here. I know that lots of people play shooting games or even fighting games to let out some aggression or relieve stress. Whatever someone does in the comfort of their own home, so long as they aren't hurting anyone or themselves, it's all good. If playing violent video games keeps you from feeling stressed and makes you happy and keeps you from acting violently IRL, that sounds like a win to me. But this game looks like garbage. Just from the video above, graphically, gameplay-wise, you name it - there's nothing there that looks like anything beyond what it actually is. And that's an obvious grab for attention. All the school shootings in the headlines and they want to make a school shooting simulator. Real classy. Honestly, considering all of your posts about Art Direction in Paper Mario and the finer nuances of gameplay in SSB Melee, I'm surprised to see you show so much interest in such a shallow looking game. Like they said in the video above, if anyone finds themselves thinking violent thoughts often, just get professional help. There's no shame in that. These days you can even talk to therapists online if you want. Other than that, all I'll say is life's too short to play bad video games. I guess I'm just angry at the fact that censorship is still around. I don't understand the logic of censorship happening when the ESRB exists for the reason of preventing it, and for a game to get cancelled over it (especially when it's an indie game) is just dumb. Yeah, the game looked bad, but I don't think it should have been disallowed. It's not fair to developers. |

I don't like censorship either, but this game was clearly trolling for reaction, and like others said, it doesn't look like a very good game worth saving. I would rather play another garbage rape simulator than this.

Of course, with our talk about how these things are covered in the news (both the killings and how games/music/movies are blamed for them), one thing should still be made clear. To adapt the NRA jargon, "The media doesn't kill people! People kill people! Usually with guns and bullets, lots of them."
