Is it hard to come by CD and 32X cords? It's easy to find them without the cords for reasonable prices on eBay but not with them. Are they just extra Genesis cords?

Sega CD only needs its own power supply to work. The Sega CD unit connects into the side port of the Genesis, the video output is then handled by the Genesis just like normal.
32X on the other hand needs a separate power supply AND has its own video input from the Genesis AND it's own video output (which is how it's able to show Genesis games AND its own better graphics that the regular Genesis and Sega CD can't do).
So, first it requires a special video cable that connects the Genesis to the 32X, then a normal model 2 Genesis video cable that connects the 32X to the TV.
The model 2 Genesis only needs the regular Genesis-to-32X cable but if it's a model 1 Genesis it also requires an adapter for the Genesis-to-32X cable, this is because model 1 and model 2 have different video output connectors. Model 2 and 32X use the same cable for video output to the TV.
