I was also going to post this. I've started reading the book and it's both funny and well written; especially as it's free, I see no reason for not downloading it.

Currently reading this. I'll share my thoughts when I'm done, if you want.

I read through the book, front to back, a couple weeks ago now. Since I said I'd give my thoughts, I guess I'll do that now.
I don't want to be too hard on the book since I did get it for free, which feels a lot like a gift. You really shouldn't criticize gifts, imo. That being said, it's not particularly long or heavy on information.
There's a lot of "airing of grievances" and sarcastic insults for YouTube, WatchMojo, younger generations, and trolls who leave lame comments, but Mark's main message is: diversify and don't rely on social media as your primary income. Seems like solid advice to me. He points in the general direction of how he got there himself, but finer details are left up to the reader to discover for themself if they want to... from another source.
Glad to hear he's been lifting weights, though. He mentions it a couple times. I challenged him to a tag-team WHO DEFEATZ fight a few years ago and I'd hate for the mythical match to be one-sided...

I love Mark and CGR. I just wish he could move on from his grievances, relax a bit, and get back to the classics...even if it is part time. If he was having fun again, and it wasn't a job, I think he would be happy as a clam.

Jeez, I don't even know what happened to Mark. Does he use a platform currently to share his work?

Don't forget he is also on Patreon (he uploads the episodes there), so it's not just the Amazon Prime revenue - besides whatever he is making on books, of course.

So his content is still paywalled. Ugh. It'll be years before I feel financially stable enough to pay to watch him.

I mean, a $2 contribution for one month on Patron pretty much gets you access to the full back load of Amazon content. It is accessed via private Vimeo link, so the videos are also downloadable from Vimeo's site for local storage. So if you only wanted to support occasionally for a single month and catch up on the backlog, that still gets you a fair bit of content (there's several hours of episodes at this point).
It doesn't seem like much of a financial hit by itself, but I do know some folks who avoid signing up for Patreon for any reason, because they believe that if they start contributing to one artist they like, it will snowball to every artist they like and hundreds of dollars per month.

My impression from the book was that he's making it happen with the shirts and book sales.

He still has more than 600 people on Patreon, so I think he still has enough revenue to keep CGR as his only job (always considering also whatever he is getting from Amazon Prime, books, t-shirts and the occasional Kickstarter campaign). He has said a few times that Prime and the books were more successful than he expected and we know his Kickstarted campaigns did well, so it's possible that CGR in general is still turning a profit.
