Since it seems that quite a few of you are getting this game, I thought I'd start up a thread here. I don't know what our rule should be about spoilers, but I'd like to go through the adventure with the rest of you. My son told me to pick Olberic, so I'm on that path. (I was going to pick either the dancer <to which he said, NOT A GIRL!> or the apothacary <to which he said looked "boring.> I definitely will replay this game as the other players. This game is gorgeous by my Super Nintendo standards! It does look like a pop up book, and although I didn't pick up the special edition, I like the idea of it. (I don't have the room for that stuff.) I just put in an hour or so, and the music fits the game, and I am digging the old school battle system. This is a perfect game for the world of CGR. Who is your main protagonist? What should our rules about discussion be here?

I take it that I'm the only one to have bought it yet? I get it, but the Amazon Prime pre-order discount pushed me to get it right away.

I'm planning to at least go through the whole demo. I really want to learn this genre. It seems very compelling for everyone, and there are so many games in the genre that I can add to my SNES Classic that I want to experience to see what tge whole hype is about. Plus I really like the 16 bit pixel art of these games, along with the soundtracks.

Those games are a great way to get into the genre. Isn't III (6) on the SNES Classic?

I haven't played the demo but I have played some titles that seem excruciatingly similar and failed miserably at sustaining my interest. Legend of Legacy promised a diverse story that it failed to deliver and the art style was similar albeit not as polished. Octopath is definitely not why I may or may not be in the market for a Switch but if you like it, more power to you.

Isn't III (6) on the SNES Classic? It is, but the beauty of the SNES Classic is that even if it wasn't you can still add more games. I can even add Terranigma even though it was a PAL exclusive.

By the way, this is crazy!
I love this hype, but there sure as hell is going to be some backlash. People who don't like this genre are going to pick this up and hate it. Then they will yammer on and on about the Nintendo hype train caused by a fake shortage conspiracy theories. I am pleased with it thus far.

I thought I'd posted this the other day, but apparently not. I think I might hold out a bit for a used copy, as I'm deep into a few other games at the moment, but I'm still looking forward to it. That said, I'm happy to discuss any of the characters' prologues. I've played through all of those at least

Well, I don't like the genre at all, but I would never say those things. In fact, I'm even willing to try it because I recognize it is a very artistic genre and I would like to understand why people like it.

My son told me to pick Olberic, so I'm on that path. (I was going to pick either the dancer <to which he said, NOT A GIRL!> or the apothacary <to which he said looked "boring.> What other choice would there be... for an old man... Shame it's a Switch exclusive, so of course I don't have it... It looks so kewl, I was tempted to go for 'I am Setsuna' in a recent PSN sale just to get my hands of something along the same ilk. Octopath is definitely not why I may or may not be in the market for a Switch but if you like it, more power to you. PS4 more than enough eh ?... Although for some reason, I keep having this feeling that this game will appear on PS4 at some point...

Although for some reason, I keep having this feeling that this game will appear on PS4 at some point... That's what I'm hoping with SMT V. The Persona series does so well on Sony platforms, it doesn't make sense to me for it to be a Switch exclusive. I'll be mad if I end up buying this console just to play it.

I have discovered how the plots are interwoven, so I got Primrose as a partner first. Her story is quite good thus far, and her attack is rather strong. I love how you can choose to add one of the other 7 characters to your group and learn about their story while continuing on with your own path. Grinding isn't necessary if you're doing this along the way. It is a smart way of changing things up.

The NS can definitely handle Persona 5. The PS3 can, and the NS has more power than the PS3, heck even the Wii U had more Power than the PS3.
I would say Persona 5 makes more sense on the NS than on the PS4. People that played Persona 4 Golden played it on the go. Plus Shin Megami Tensei has been Nintendo exclusive.
I imagine the only reason that hasn't happened yet is because the PS4 has 5 years of sales ahead of the NS. Once the NS substitutes the 3DS for real we won't see these problems.
