I doubt most people know who he is, but people love Top Gun's soundtrack. But I mean, who doesn't love Top Gun's soundtrack? Playing With the Boys was a hot track with a smooth feel. |

Playing With the Boys was a hot track with a smooth feel. Take another listen and catch that pan flute riff in the beginning. The track rocks just hard enough, but the pan flute kicks in and takes us back to the roots of his smooth west coast sound. Loggins is top notch. |

Balder is up to it again. Giving a stone cold classic Stallone movie a low rating. I see you, Balder . I see you. I don’t know what’s going on up there in Norway, but it must be pretty messed up. So let me just say that we have two thoughts. You have users that are wondering why the admin never looked at the poll results. Why hasn't he looked? Why was the admin told not to look and see who voted? I’ve been wondering that. I’ve been asking that for months and months and years and I’ve been making threads about it and calling it out on the forum. Who has voted in the poll? I want to know. Who voted and what rating did they give? With all that being said, all I can do is ask the question. My people came to me, cobretti came to me and some others and said, they think it’s Balder. I have Moderator Balder here. He just said, it’s not Balder. I will say this. I don’t see any reason why it would be. But I really do want to see those votes. |

I still demand an investigation into vote tampering in the Rambo: First Blood Part II poll. We all know Balder is both anti Stallone and anti American. I know he tampered with those results. The perpetrator @dscult3 came clean here. Probably the one who tampered with Rambo too? hehe Nah. I can't vote twice. I already made it clear that I don't like that movie nearly as much. However, I will state this fact: For those of us who are Americans, we pride ourselves in the fact that we have a secret ballot. I do not want the votes to be public. Vote however you want, and then defend if you FEEL like it. Sometimes, (and I have seen this on other polls) some of us want to vote and move on. Or perhaps we wish to watch as the world burns between our usuals? Either way, a secret ballot is necessary to keep voting true to one's personal feelings without retribution. |

My point was that he combined America and privacy/secret voting to be almost synonymous, which they are not since NSA have been playing Americans and other countries like a fiddle for years. |

I thought it would be obvious, but I guess it wasn't, or I wouldn't be writing this. I previously made a slight error and said that "I don't see any reason why it would be Balder" who gave this movie a bad rating. What I meant, of course, is that it wouldn't. That little "n't" - so important. If I would have taken an extra minute, I wouldn't have made that mistake. But what would that bring us? Wouldn't it be better if we all would just get along?

Missed this discussion's anniversary with just a couple of days. Well, well here's my thoughts on the movie:
"I do not think I have seen a movie that uses its title that often in dialogue unless it is a name. Over the Top has some over the top moments, but it is ultimately let down by the shitty writing and because it is overall uninteresting. It is one of those movies where the father has to participate in a tournament to save his kid, uninspired stuff let me tell you. Stallone performs decently all things considered, and the soundtrack is pretty good (it is Kenny Loggins we are talking about here though, so that is to be expected). This movie kind of reminds me of Rocky with the whole underdog feeling, but here it does not work at all. Stallone has no reason to win over these guys who are literally twice his size. In arm-wrestling you cannot outsmart or endure your enemy in the same way as boxing. So when I watch this it is like watching a scripted plot armor hovering over Stallone as he wins these arm-wrestle matches. The kid is also annoying and I cannot see any chemistry between them here. Even the writer of this thing was appalled by how it turned out. Despite all of these negatives, Over the Top is relatively decent and entertaining. You just got to look at it as some 80's sleaze." 2.5/5

I was actually starting to respect you recently, but you destroyed all that good will with what is clearly a very wrong opinion of a very high quality, emotional yet very masculine movie. And if you think its wrong that Stallone is beating dudes twice his size in arm wrestling, then I suggest you look up John Brzenk, a man who is considered the greatest arm wrestler of all time, who has pulled such feats. Brzenk also had a brief cameo in Over the Top during the arm wrestling montage. Also need I remind you Kenny Loggins was on the soundtrack? He was! How can you think a movie is bad When Kenny Loggins is laying down smooth tracks for it? This is a beautiful song that should add four stars by itself. Also, the movie stars Stallone, which means its instantly a five because Stallone rules and so dies America. Please change your opinion immediately or sooner. |
