What do you think of the DRM format that is SecuROM?
I ask because I recently discovered that my computer has SecuROM from the Shivering Isles expansion disc on my copy of Oblivion GOTY Edition. I don't know what this means for my computer, but I've head that SecuROM is one of the most heavily disliked forms of DRM because it supposedly opens one's computer up to viruses and malware. This has me worried....
Also, I'm quite baffled because I've heard conflicting reports about SecuROM's compatibility with Windows 10. For example, both the Wikipedia page for SecuROM and Cervantes have told me that the DRM is incompatible with Windows 10 and games that use it won't work on said operating system, but later I read on the PC Gaming Wiki that SecuROM does in fact still function on Microsoft's latest OS, despite rumors claiming otherwise, and the fact that Shivering Isles was able to install on my PC pretty much confirms this, doesn't it?
I'm also concerned because many of the physical versions of PC games I'm interested in buying have SecuROM as their DRM, so I gotta learn as much as I can about this.
