stratogustav Exactly my point, bro. If you understood the Dude, you'd see how absolutely perfect Jeff Bridges was for the role. He's a laidback stoner who doesn't care that he's what anyone else might call (and Mr Lebowski does call) a loser. He's out there takin' it easy for all of us sinners. Agreed on Goodman, though.

That's a description of "The Dude", but not of Jeff Bridges. Jeff Bridges just tries so hard that it is painful to watch. What's funny is that you can tell he actually believes he is congruent. I feel that's the same assumption that fools his audience. The only way I can see that working is that the joke is on the audience of the movie, in which they did definitely succeed making fun of people watching the movie, for having sit through so much cringing. |
