How do you feel about the c-stick (AKA the right analogue stick)? I ask because it's one of the more unusual aspects about the controller and I would like to hear your thoughts on it. Discuss.

I like the c-stick enough to give it a 4/5. I'm not as fond of it as the left stick because it doesn't feel quite as sensitive as it, and it also doesn't have as much grip. It still gets the job done, though, and ultimately I do like it. I've played FPS games extensively with it and it works flawlessly once you get used to it.
Side note: I love the little "C" engraved into the rubber coating. Nice detail.

I never liked it, I prefer the N64 approach for the C-buttons. I just wished the N64 controller had X and Y on top of A and B plus the C cross. That would total 8 buttons, but the N64 was disappointing in terms of 2D games, so I guess it didn't matter.

...but the N64 was disappointing in terms of 2D games, so I guess it didn't matter. Actually it wasn't. It may not have had many of them, what what few 2D games it did have were great. I personally loved Mischief Makers, Kirby 64 and Yoshi Story.

I personally loved Mischief Makers, Kirby 64 and Yoshi Story. But then, compared to the quantity and quality that you would find on a Saturn (Astal, Princess Crown, Legend of Oasis, Guardian Heroes, Dungeons & Dragons, Clockwork Knight, numerous 2d fighting games and shmups) or on a PS1 (Symphony of the Night, Mega Man X series, Klonoa, Alundra, Strider 1&2 and many others), the N64 surely was lacking. I do agree that Mischief Makers was pretty great, though. Treasure was on a roll in that generation, too bad they sort of faded out in the last decade.

Yes, the N64 had a problem with ego, they had the best looking polygons, their sense of 3D space was much better fleshed out, their prime 3D games look better than any PS1 3D game could dream, the 64 bit really made a difference, it didn't matter that CDs had a higher capacity, for data, for better sound, and for video, when it came to in engine stuff the N64 blew it all away, which is why PS1 3D games may need a remake while a remaster is usually enough to appreciate N64 titles.
This extreme sense of entitlement affected the N64 platform, often rejecting 2D entries simply because they proclaimed they were pass that, and that it was a thing of the past, that instead they wanted to embrace the future, and focus on stablishing a new paradigm in the industry, which they did accomplished by changing the standard to a new high, but at what price.
The N64 was highly disappointing when it comes to 2D. It is because these stupid ideas that the N64 missed on having a proper Castlevania, the Mega Man X series, various SNK titles, various fighting games, and shoot 'em ups. They basically alienated themselves from a big chunk of the greatness the 5th gen had to offer.
