This week I want to talk about the jedi master Yarael Poof, a member of the jedi council who's only appearance in the main films was in Episode 1 The Phantom Menace.  Suggested by Dan E. Kool. Do you remember him? How did he compare to the other jedi masters on the council? Discuss. |

I will always remember him as the enigmatic bobble-head. He never spoke but added a tremendous amount of atmosphere and nuance to the background imagery of the film. His design is for the most part very cool, and it sucks that he was killed off before Attack of the Clones.
Side note: the first time I saw the kaminoians in Attack of the Clones I thought they were the same species as this guy, since they're both tall, thin, pale bobble-heads.

Found this while looking for a pic of him:  If I'm remember correctly, doesn't Snoke from the sequel trilogy resemble this photoshopped version of Yarael? |

Yarael Poof had probably the longest neck of any Jedi. It's a shame he wasn't in the Colosseum scene in Attack of the Clones. Do you think his neck would flop around loosely or is it more stiff than that?

I don’t know if anyone noticed this, but this guy has a long neck. It’s subtle, but his neck happens to be longer than most species. To me, that is what make Yarael Poof unique.

Is this what we're doing now, finding the most obscure Prequels characters and discussing how they look? Not just prequel characters, OT characters too. Besides, the main cast of characters have already been analyzed to death by the entire internet. Even the likes of Plo Koon and Kit Fisto are overdiscussed by now. |

Yarael Poof is hardly obscure, Balder. He's a valued member of the Jedi Council, which means he's also a Jedi Master. Do you think Poof can eat solid food? Does he have to consume all of his sustenance via smoothies? I can't imagine pretzels traveling down that throat of his. He must have a constant waterfall of saliva. |

I wonder if I've ever unlocked him in any of the LEGO Star Wars games, there are lots of characters to unlock in those and a majority of them are obscure characters no one has ever heard of, like this poof.

I looked it up on the LEGO Star Wars wikia and the LEGO wikia and turns out he's only in one of the animated movies; The Padawan Menace (which I may have on DVD but haven't watched yet)  |
