That's it. I've finally got to the point where I'm fed up with not being able to play many games that aren't available digitally due to Windows 10's DRM incompatibility. So, instead of downgrading my current desktop PC, I figured it would be more convenient and worthwhile for me to just buy a laptop with an older version of Windows pre-installed.
BUT
I have many concerns about this and will not make the purchase until these questions have been answered:
-I have read on the PC Gaming Wiki that Windows 7, 8 & 8.1 will disable Safedisc DRM by default. To quote them word for word:
"SafeDisc retail DRM does not work on Windows 10, and is disabled by default on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 when the KB3086255 update is installed."
What does this mean? Does this mean that games that use Safedisc are no longer playable on these older OSs, as is the case with Windows 10? This is perhaps my biggest concern because the only reason I want to have an older OS is for playing physical PC games, and Safedisc is arguably the most common DRM along with maybe Securom.
-Has Microsoft announced any plans to discontinue Windows 7? Or 8.1? Since those are the two I'm most interested in.
PLEASE help me with these questions when you have a moment.

I want a new computer too, something that can run HTC or Oculus, but it is not something I need.

Did some brief searching for a gaming laptop with windows 7 yesterday. Synopsis: -Newegg had only one (refurbished) -Best Buy had none, online or in-store Additionally, I was told that Microsoft plans to stop supporting Windows 7 by January of 2020, which is barely more than a year from now. My local Radio Shack has a new laptop with Windows 7 for sale, but it isn't designed for gaming, so I don't know if the graphics card/chip would be strong enough to handle games from, say, 2000-2005. And I would still have the issue of zero service once Jan. of 2020 comes and Microsuck shuts down support for the OS, which would make browsing the internet via wifi, the other main reason I'm interested in getting a laptop, unsafe. On top of that, I'm still not sure what the hell to make of what I read on the PC Gaming Wiki about how most forms of DRM are disabled on Windows 7 in the latest update. Can anyone please confirm??
