stratogustav yeah there's definitively worse things to spend money on, like DVDs in the year 2016. I truly agree with that. If something is not on Blu-Ray I just end up obtaining it digitally and it is usually better quality. However I still buy Wii games even though they are not HD, so I guess I'm guilty somehow.

Wii games aren't something to be ashamed of. But yeah, I'm never going to buy another DVD for the rest of my life. That format has no charm and is surpassed in every way by Blu Rays, it needs to die.

Yeah I feel bad for those that made those collections because they really look bad now. Good thing everything I ever bought on DVD was music related which is OK. They said new Blu-Ray 4Ks will come out this year, but having a top of the line 4K TV myself I can tell the difference will be almost non-existent. Specially considering the kind of upscaling it already goes down from anything in Full HD to Ultra.

There's lots of stuff on DVD that you can't get on Blu-ray and probably never will. I have the Magnum PI box sets to prove it.

I wish restoration was easier so some good content does not get lost in time. I still have a lot of music on DVD and I doubt it will ever be released on Blu Ray. You need to be Star Wars to get that treatment.

I was very confused when I saw that player1 was back, until I noticed the date.

Damn, that sucks. We've got a local guy in town who has a rental store, and it is loaded. He said that the only reason he exists is because so many of the old staples in the rental community have gone the way of the Dodo bird.

I have no doubt there's still a demand from people who have slow connections or are just old. Blockbuster went down because they were bad with money, not because they didn't have customers.

Actually, they passed up Streaming technology. If they didn't, we could've had BB Online.

The guy who owns it has had it for decades. He lives and breathes the movie rental business, and he has outlasted the big chains like Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. The guy's knowledge is phenomenal, and I don't think he has ever thrown away a movie, unless the format has gone bad. The look of the building reminds me of an old train station (it is right on the tracks), and it is filled to the brim with VHS, DVDs, Blu-Rays, etc. I'll have to check and see if he has any other formats, but I haven't been there in quite a while.
