Glad this topic came back up. With shows and movies getting the axe from streamers for “tax write-offs” and the general lack of availability of movies streaming, buying blu rays and DVDs are really the only way to go if you really like movies. Have been steadily beefing up my collection the past 6 months and have really enjoyed it so far. Also digital censorship is a problem was well. Get the movies on hard copies before they can do it there too.

What you can do, is get your old VHS tapes, record them and burn them onto some blank DVDs. I got some old anime that I'm having trouble finding on the mainstream services. I have Gunsmith Cats, but not even Retrocrush has it. Mum also has all the classic Disney moves on tape somewhere. Also, you should pick your favourite TV series and keep them on DVD, so you'll be right in case they get removed from the services.
This scene would not have aged well.

They recently announced one of my favorite shows growing up, Babylon 5, was finally getting a blu ray release. Super excited for it. Someone needs to get Deep Space Nine on blu ray. You’re right. Get them physical while you can. The studios and streamers would throw this stuff in the trash if it adds a couple extra pennies to the profit margins.

Oh. One more thing. If you can, store your discs in paper cases. Not only are they compact, they will protect your movies from Disc Rot. Or put an oxygen absorber in the DVD case.
