I've got to say, I had no interest in this originally, and I'm not really a Pokemon fan, but that was...a hell of a trailer (and a very sassy looking JigglyPuff). I think I might see this in theatre.

This reminds me of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, which is a great thing. I like the direction they're taking. It's also a smart way to do a Pokémon live action adaptation: if it bombs, hey, it was just a strange spin-off anyway, it doesn't damages the reputation of the main series and they can still try a more straightforward approach in the future (adapting the main games).
Some time ago, there was a small joke campaign asking for Danny DeVitto do the voice of Pikachu in this. Now that I think about it, it would just be perfect! Ryan Reynolds is certainly great and one of the best choices they could go with, but just imagine Pikachu talking like this:
