When I played the first Resident Evil, I always thought it was funny when my character was lying on the floor, headless, after spurting blood all over the place, and the game still felt the need to tell "You died".

fsfsxii - SO MUCH BLOOD. Man, I love the original RE. I still haven't played the REmake, though; maybe it could be the game of this years' Halloween? By the way, I remember in the Saturn version there's also a giant pool of blood forming around the character in the game over screen. It just made the "You Died" thing even more absurd.

I liked the one in Super Smash Bros (N64) where your character turns back into a toy.
Also, the Game Over music in Sonic 1 is a real bummer. In a good way.

Star Wars Empire Strikes Back on Game Boy has Darth Vader say all too easy with the evil star wars music playing, it's a really tough game so him being all "too easy" is really just kicking you when you're already down.
Alien Trilogy had great game over animations of Ripley dying horrible deaths.

I'm playing Tomb Raider and I do enjoy her deaths. The problem is that I'm playing in normal so I don't die almost never. Once I'm done I may try it on hard to enjoy all her deaths. I just want to get to the end to say I finish it.
The game over screens I always skipped and emotionally affected me were the ones in Mortal Kombat 4 where you fall in a tunel on spikes. I was strong to me because I was supposed to be good and losing was cringe worth it in my eyes.

Too bad. I recommend playing it when no one's around on a cold night. Thats how i played it and i fell in love immediately. REmake is pretty much what made me interested in RE in general, even though i played them all before REmake, but REmake is when it clicked for me.
