So many people learned to endure hardships from this movie. So many people learned that the journey was more important than the end result at the end of this film. In the age of instant gratification, this movie teaches people that no matter what your background is, you have a chance. You have the ability within you to achieve great things. You just have to dig deep and grab that gumption and endure the shit storm known as the world around us. You have it within you to be great. You just need to make it happen.
I absolutely love this movie.

Rocky takes place on Thanksgiving and Christmas time. A perfect Christmas movie along with Die Hard.

"Just like Rocky, I went the distance and I have reached my goal of watching 365 movies this year, and what better way to celebrate it by having Rocky be my 365th this year. Rocky is not just the best underdog movie ever made because of its story and characters, it is also the best underdog movie because of everything it represents. Stallone wrote this movie himself and negotiated to star in it by giving up the rights to the movie. At this time Stallone tried to sell his dog because he could not afford to feed it. He gave up a sure bet and earned a career out of it. And not only did he make a career, he also got his dog to star in it! Rocky as a character has a rough exterior, but a heart of gold. One of the most loveable characters ever made, along with some really memorable supporting characters. If you look up the word feel-good in a dictionary, you will not find a definition, you will simply find the cover art of Rocky." 5/5, cracked into my top ten movies of all time.

5/5, cracked into my top ten movies of all time. You know, when I was a kid, I didn't like this movie until the fight scene at the end. I hated the dialog, and I hated the run up until the eventual match. I was more into Rocky III or IV, because it had more action. It wasn't until I was in my last years of high school that I started to appreciate it. When I was in my early 20s, I learned to love it. Now, it is easily one of my top ten movies of all time as well.

As it happens, this is one of my Top Ten as well. We give out a lot of perfect scores around here because it's fun, but Rocky really deserves it more than most. Great story, great cast, great soundtrack. I still wouldn't call it a Holiday film, but I'm not complaining about talking about this masterpiece. Easy 5/5.

It's been more than 2 weeks since I saw Rocky now, but I still can't get it out of my head, and that's a sign of a fantastic film. I listen to this a lot these days:

10 out of 10 of course. He wrote the script, and made sure he played it, something that happened against all odds.
