So today I watched this video. The first thing I noticed was his his little title sequence had a sick ass breakdown that was fucking brutal. Not what you'd expect in a video where an unassuming man makes a sack lunch. But the second thing I noticed is these matpakke lunches are freaking sad. Its this open faced sandwich with minimal, bland ingredients on some lame bread. And its lame by design. After reading into it a bit, its maybe something of a faux pas to have a lunch that you look forward to and enjoy. So my question, mainly to Balder since he is from there, is why not a ham and cheese sandwich? Why sweaty brown cheese? Whats wrong with a salad or a hamburger? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THE NORWEGIAN LUNCH? |

This was pretty good satire. I'm from Norway so I know a little bit about this. He is very correct, extremely correct, but I never had lunches like that. Never was a fan of the traditional pålegg that we have in Norway, so I often took left over dinner with me, or wraps or something. This video was pretty funny though

It's exaggerated of course, but it holds some truth to it. The Norwegian lunch is pretty much a package of disappointment. What he says about not combining ham and cheese is completely untrue though, I don't know where he got that from. Brown cheese gets just as sweaty as any other cheese. It's not a fault in the design, but a fault in any cheese that's wrapped. People make real sandwiches for lunch, but most of us just have ham and cheese, while more creative people take the time to make something better.
