I have a project for school about videogame movies, what makes them good, what people feel about them, etc. I would like to hear your opinions on different movies based on videogames. Movies that you liked and why and also movies that you hated. This will help me a lot, and it might be a fun discussion

One videogame movie I loved when I watched it was Silent Hill, the first one. I have never played Silent Hill, but the movie was very well made and creepy. I loved the concept of a town in the fog that you couldn't escape, pluss the monsters were creative and really creepy.

I haven't seen the movie. The numbered games are great though.

One thing you could talk about is why they tend to disappoint. Research a few movies and give the reasons why the audience weren't happy. The Super Mario Bros. movie from the 90's would be a good start.

I know what I'm going to write about, but I need opinions from different people about what they like about a particular movie. For eksample, I don't like the movie Doom, because it has pretty much nothing to do with any of the games, and is pretty bad overall with the visuals, acting and writing.

Doom tries to create a fps shot, which is very interesting, and it's what most resemble the game.

Doom: in-name-only adaptation. The monsters weren't from Hell, but mutants from some kind of life form that 'responds to evil'. wut? Hoo boy! Speaking of in-name-only and not caring, look up douchebag Uwe Boll. He did House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark. Super Mario Bros. (1993): In trying to appeal to everyone, it appealed to no one. Research the troubled history of its production. Sonic the Hedgehog anime: Actually, the first two episodes of the would-be anime series, spliced together. The series got canned in Japan, but the two episodes were joined and marketed as the movie over here. Dead or Alive: it was relying mostly on hot chicks to get it through. More for horny teenage boys with very few standards. Worst martial arts movie I ever saw, and I've seen some of the Bruce-sploitation films. Heavenly Sword: A CGI film I once rented out. PLot and characters were flat, but I guess they were trying to be faithful to the source material. Maybe a little too faithful, because games tend not to have much. Here's a CGR review of the game in question: Hey, maybe you could say some are just marketed to the 'lowest common denominator'. Here's a couple of articles from TVTropes.org: Video Game movies suckAdaptation Decay

That girl that plays Kasumi in DOA is Steve Aoki's sister. I thought that was odd, I had no idea he had a sister.

Dlotn How'd your presentation go? Thanks for asking, but I haven't had it yet. I've just started watching a bunch of the video game adaptations. I'm going to have in like four weeks. It's a pretty huge presentation that we get a ton of time for.
