This week I would like to discuss the short-lived political career of actor Sonny Landham, who played Billy in "Predator".  (suggested by cobretti) He ran once for governor of Kentucky, once for Kentucky state senate, and once for US senate, failing to win any elections. In particular, his run for US senate was tainted by racist and pro-genocide comments he made towards muslims during a radio talk show interview, after which he was quickly forced out of the nomination by fellow members of Kentucky's libertarian party. Does anyone here support his beliefs? Does anyone think he would've made a great politician? Please discuss. |

Some trivia about Sonny Landham: he began his career acting in pornographic films and had a reputation for getting in fist-fights with fellow cast members. To quote IMDB:
"The studio's insurance company would not agree to insure the production unless a bodyguard was hired for Sonny Landham (Billy) - for the sole purpose of protecting people from Sonny. The bodyguard followed Sonny everywhere to ensure he didn't get into a fight, since he was well known to be violent and short tempered."
This guy was a complete sociopath and I'm glad that he was never granted any political power. If there's one thing that people like Landham and Jair Bolsonaro have taught me it's that belligerent, pro-military racists should never have power in society.
