My main question is how will having friends from separate consoles work? Can I add ps4 friends if I'm an xbox user? What if two people have the same username across different platforms? What if one person has both consoles? Will they make a unified network for these things? There will probably be a differentiable ID tag like "[Xbox] Balder" and "[PS4] manicottimafia". That was my thought as well. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, with the company's negotiating and all. It's going to be an interesting e3 this year. |

Being an exclusively offline gaming old school gamer who as of current gen has abandoned modern gaming completely (newest allowed in my home is 360, PS3, Vita and Wii U), this "cross-play" matters very little to me... and to be honest I always thought online gaming per automatique was "cross-play" already for all multiplatform games, it just seemed like the default option to me and it made no sense not assuming it was so all along, but I guess I was wrong, online gaming was even shittier than I had possibly imagined, making the fact that there are so many people who willingly pay extra for it even stranger to me.

Forget VR-- AR games are very interesting, and haven't yet been fully developed yet. It's the one unique feature of the 3DS that everyone ignores, and it would be great to see the NX push the tech further.

After the success they had with the Amiibos it would not surprise me. I picked up my pre-orders of Roy and Ryu today, which brings my collection to 73 Amiibos total if I'm not mistaken, only missing the Animal Crossing Amiibos because I don't care for those, and the 3 Yoshi's Woolly World Amiibos.

Maybe they are just playing mind games like they are with Zelda Wii U. It is about time they release it. They are making us wait like they did with Twilight Princess because at the time no one counted Wind Waker, so it felt longer since Majora's Mask.

@armored Core Raven Online gaming is awesome, what on earth is there not to like? It allows you to play games with friends whenever you want, wherever you want. Sure paying for it is kind of annoying, but they have to run the servers and 5 bucks a month is not that big a deal (at least for someone who has the money to be into video games in the first place). And if you don't need it, well, that's why it's an added fee. Game companies are taking further steps to improve that service, and that's commendable.

I think his point is that for some of us that only play online once in a while, paying feels weird since we didn't have to with the PS3, even if it is only 10 bucks a month. I don't play online that much to justify it. I rather use it for Patreon CGR any day.
That said, online gaming is fun, and it is a nice feature to have, specially when it comes to competitive games. I admit I don't do it often but that's because usually there is enough content offline to keep me occupied.
